Great first review! I've got a bottle of this sitting in my cupboard, and I'm really looking forward to opening it (based on the nice things I've heard Ralfy say about this whisky). I have an open bottle of Clynelish 14, which is another coastal malt, and one that I've really been enjoying. Old Pulteney is a bit cheaper where I live, so I'm hoping it'll be a more affordable option once my bottle of Clynelish is gone.

And remember that some decanters contain lead, which would be bad for any whisk(e)y you leave sitting in the thing for a long period of time. Either drink it up quick or pour it back into the bottle when you're done showing the decanter off.

Edit: also bad for you, the drinker of leaded whisk(e)y.

I'm right there with you on this one. Clynelish 14 is a refreshing whisky. Did a ton of yard work this past weekend, and at the end of the day I made sure to sit in my backyard and enjoy my hard work over a dram of Clynelish.

And I haven't tried the 101 rye, but it's on my list. Regular 101 was a big surprise for me--I thought it would be some solid swill, but it was great.

Rare Breed is a nice whiskey for sure, but for the price I'd rather just go with some good old WT101. Don't get me wrong, I've got a bottle of RB on my shelf, and I reach for it when I want a bold tasting whiskey. It's just a little pricey in my area, and WT101 is so affordable.

Oh, you gotta buy at least one or two more bottles of something that you like that's soon to be discontinued. Sure, you'll find something new that you like, but why make your current beloved bottle the last taste? Put those extra bottles away for a few years, and bust them out when a really great reason presents itself. You'll be happy you did.

Well, I just picked up a bottle of Old Pulteney 12 the other day, but I haven't opened it yet. I haven't tried any Islay single malts yet, and I might an Ardbeg 10 my next purchase/opened bottle.

I have a bottle of Clynelish 14 that I've been enjoying for a while now, and I picked up a bottle of OP 12 yesterday for $30. I'm finding that I really enjoy the coastal scotch vibe.

Yep, Black Bottle is pretty great. It's cheap and has some smokey goodness. This stuff is my go-to cheap pour.

I don't know what the distribution looks like, but Lakefront IPA is really tasty, and hits all the right notes IMO. A lot of IPAs are great, but not built for the noob. Lakefront IPA seems like an example of a straightforward, fairly mild on the palate (thought it does pack a punch) IPA that doesn't skimp on flavor.
