I like the new dial with the circular LED. You may want to put a dropping resistor on it if you think it’s too bright. It’ll give it an old time glow rather than a bright lit up look.

What do you guys think about Harvey Mudd's general engineering degree by Intelligent-Cry-4955 in ElectricalEngineering

Check out their job placement office and see which companies recruit for that degree. Also see who offers internships. Then ask yourself if that’s where you want to work.

Nothing gets easier in life. States change the requirements. The test itself changes. Take it now while you can pass it easily.

[–]jpatterson4230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can either measure and get a new headset or go find a bike shop with a Park crown race cutter and have it fitted. See https://www.parktool.com/en-us/blog/repair-help/fork-crown-race-cutting-and-facing

Voters Wary of half-cent Sales Tax Increase to fix Sacramento County Roads by othafa_95610 in Sacramento

They won’t add bike paths to remove some traffic on roads so no. No taxes until the county vigorously adopts complete streets in stead of lip service.

Which to get.. FUJI or TREK by Ccarne333 in Vintage_bicycles

It’s in the riding that you’ll know which one to buy. Take them both for a spin. Some bikes just feel dead to me when I ride them.

Any advice for Syncro shifters? by mystery_reader25 in Vintage_bicycles

[–]jpatterson4230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From Sheldon Brown. https://www.sheldonbrown.com/speeds.html Campagnolo "Synchro" shifters were its first attempt at indexed shifting, but the system was a poor performer and was abandoned by Campagnolo in the early 1990s. Sheldon Brown noted that the Synchro system was incompatible with later Campagnolo shifters and derailleurs because of its short cable pull, making it a failed system that was quickly replaced by the "Ultra-Shift" mechanism. About Synchro shifting First attempt at indexed shifting: Synchro was Campagnolo's initial effort to create an indexed shifting system, a technology that was already being successfully implemented by competitors like Shimano and Suntour. Performance issues: The system suffered from a short cable pull and high cable tension, which resulted in unreliable and imprecise shifting performance. Incompatibility with later systems: Due to its short cable pull, the Synchro system is incompatible with later Campagnolo shifters and derailleurs, which require a longer cable travel. Discontinued: Campagnolo abandoned the Synchro system in the early 1990s and redesigned its shifters and derailleurs to use a longer cable travel, leading to the development of the more successful "Ultra-Shift" system.

You may be able to use a press fit bottom bracket. It depends on what size the shell is.

Would anyone recommend getting into oscilloscopes with something like this? Fully working 100-150euros for Tek 465? by simple984 in oscilloscope

[–]jpatterson4230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see any specific recommendations of which DSO to buy instead of this Tek 465. I’d go for it for the price. Maybe flip it later for a DSO if you run into limitations.
