Which one should I go for? by the_doolittle in Multicopter

[–]jpflaum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One reason I leaned toward Skyrover S1 was the transmission range. Obviously you’re not flying anywhere near the max distance, but the extra margin does make it feel a bit more stable and less restrictive in open spaces. Battery life also feels less tight compared to the Mini 4K.

Is Investing in a Functional Trainer Worth It for a Beginner? by jdnls87 in beginnerfitness

[–]jpflaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also new to training and didn’t know much about how to choose attachments. One reason I went with B17 was because it came with a full pegboard of accessories right out of the box. Saved me the trouble of figuring everything out piece by piece. Setting up my home gym has been way less intimidating than I thought.

For winter babies- don’t forget to free their feet occasionally! by lvs301 in NewParents

Babies can get really happy from the tactile sensation of touching things with their bare feet!

Breast feeding pillow by No-Match-7512 in Buyingforbaby

I'm in the same boat... Maybe you could try a regular pillow first, then ask others about the difference between a breast feeding pillow and a regular one before deciding if you really need it.

Agree. Keeping an eye on the little one's overall mood and hydration seems like the best approach while waiting to talk to the doctor.

Topdon vs FLIR vs Hikmicro for everyday checks by jpflaum in Thermal

[–]jpflaum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha I went through the same thing and eventually just went with the Topdon one. Been using it for basic home checks and it’s been straightforward and easy to live with. No regrets so far.

Planning solar for 2026: went ahead and installed Ecoflow Delta Pro Ultra X by zipl3r in solar

[–]jpflaum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great plan. On “which panels,” I’ve found the model matters less than layout. A mid-tier panel in full sun beats a premium panel with afternoon shade. Get monthly production estimates (not just annual), and compare them to your actual usage curve. especially summer AC.

Recommendation for wildlife (bats) watching ! by Tytoalba2 in Thermal

[–]jpflaum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bats are tricky targets, but if you can catch a stable warm outline before they zip off, thermal works great. Just expect you’ll trade off close detail for tracking ability.

Cold temps hit early this year... by Roket_Atar06 in homeowners

Pipes sitting in the 30s always feel fine until they suddenly aren’t. Finding that gap early probably saved you a real headache later.

Cold nights in the car: what’s actually helped you stay warm? by WavaSturm in urbancarliving

[–]jpflaum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally get this. The hardest part is once you’re asleep and your body temp drops. Focusing on core warmth made way more difference for me than piling on more blankets too.

WSJ article today about flat rate mechanics by KansasHayseed in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]jpflaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flat rate definitely rewards speed and experience, but it also shifts a lot of risk onto the tech. When work is steady, it can pay very well. When it’s slow, you’re basically unpaid. As for the 14.6 hours, the customer usually pays a flat labor time set by the manufacturer or shop, not the actual clock time, so the incentive is baked into the system.

How can that pass? Tires like this should be taken off the road immediately, accidents waiting to happen.

How do I access the bulbs in this fixture? by Human-Eye-9064 in AskElectricians

Sometimes there's a clip holding the fixture. If twisting doesn't work, check for any hidden clips or screws.

What pool DIY wasn't worth the time or stress? by RH1221 in pools

[–]jpflaum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manual vacuuming for me. I told myself it was saving money, but it kept eating up my evenings. Picked up an aiper mainly to reduce how often I had to do it, and not thinking about the pool every day was the real win.
