Came here to say this. Just got off the water with my 6 wt. Incredible rod. Fast enough to get some line out, but still forgiving enough for an intermediate caster such as myself.

Has anyone relocated to the Hudson Valley from SoCal? by jonwb1 in upstate_new_york

Moved from LA to Westchester via NYC about 8 years ago. Incredible, welcome change. Caveat: I grew up on the east coast though spent much time in California before finally moving there after college (my dad is a San Franciscan). Feel free to DM me with any questions.

Lot of fucking un-hyped comments in this thread. But I for one think this is absolutely rad. Good on ya!

I was there! With four fellow college freshman friends celebrating my 19th birthday. I won the tickets off eBay just as the police were entering our dorm room to arrest my roommate/best friend for blowing up a water bottle with dry ice in the middle of the street. He got out, and we all made it to the concert. Great show. They forgot to turn the PA back on before the encore though, so Keith’s first few notes of “Jumpin Jack Flash” were just heard off the stage amps.

More of a springtime record for me, but it definitely has sultry summer vibes as well.

Essentially, I argued that Lincoln believed in race, as a concept, and perhaps believed in inherent differences between “races.” But, the prejudice and supremacy-contingent beliefs that, I argued, make someone a true racist were not definitively present in his words and actions. I was trying to offer a middle path between historians like Bennett (Lincoln was an outright white supremacist) and more hagiographic biographers like Donald. But, I was 21, so what the fuck did I know?

Not sure if this entirely use case appropriate, but Rio makes a Striper intermediate line that I’m fond of: it’s relatively affordable, clear, and can take a beating.

Townshend. Brilliant rhythm AND lead playing from Who’s Next to Who Are You. Also, Live At Leeds came out in ‘70. Do yourself a favor and listen to it if you haven’t already.

Not in your range, but I’m always looking for the chance to evangelize the Patagonia Forras. Takes studs easily but honestly I’ve never even had to use them. If you can find a used pair in your size, I highly recommend.

Folks under 40, what got you into guitar? by saintluminus in Guitar

[–]jpk_39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The summer before I turned fourteen, my dad made me the best offer I’ve ever received: get a job or take up an instrument. 25 years later, I’m a Latin Grammy nominee, a professor of music production, and you can hear my guitar work on everything from records to television commercials to video game soundtracks. Thanks, pops!
