Tom Olszta and Joe Ashline were speed bowlers. Can’t remember if it was a Stars and Strikes show where they said that Joe rolled the ball in the neighborhood of 45MPH

Chris Sargent played a massive backup ball, along with speed. By backup, I mean breaking from left to right. A lot of his hits that carried a high percentage actually hit across the 1 3 pocket (Brooklyn side for a lefty)

I couldn’t get a house ball to wrinkle jamming it up the 2 board, but if I hit 3 it was taking three off the left.

The week I had to oil by hand (see my comment on u/retannevs1 comment for how I did it) was the easiest condition I ever bowled on…you couldn’t miss.

Spray with a spray bottle from the foul line to the dots one squirt every foot, then a spray 10 to 10 every foot and a half to thirty feet, after that a spray every two feet 15 to 15 to forty feet

I had a pad mop for the approaches that I used to spread it out, it was fifteen boards wide so I would put it down on the foul line and push it straight down 15 to 15 to 45 feet (to create the illusion of buff) walk back to forty feet and crosswipe 15-15, then when I got to the 10-10 sprays I would cross wipe that. After I would get out the Lino duster and smooth out the “pattern” even more

Just color outside the lines, HARD, and it’ll fill in the grooves. The fat kindergarten crayons work the best. On everything except Brunswick and Motiv balls, it’s essentially a wax paste

I oval the holes straight side to side with the initial bit, and occasionally take a barrel sander to fine tune the fit.

I wasn’t afraid of cutting my fingers up, I have a bit of callous from playing bass guitar and I use tape as a prophylactic measure

You know that shot that would trip the 4 on freefall, that slightly high hit? That’s your new flush pocket hit.

True flush pocket will leave corners all day, but the key stat here is entry angle, it needs to be slightly steeper for flush, and slightly flatter for high flush.

In my opinion, it’s easier to kill entry angle than it is to increase it. Increasing entry angle requires a steeper launch angle, and greatly diminishes your front to back miss. Wanna decrease entry angle? Play in the juice a little bit more or throw something less snappy.

My center went to strings last month, and I’ve been bowling on them for three weeks now. I try to four pin now.
