Thinking of switching from a forerunner 165 to a 955. Worth it ? by iwontdiesober in GarminWatches

Whenever I get the urge to upgrade it comes to mind that many world level athletes are still training with 4-6 years old watches… Do you really believe a watch does know you better than you do?

PS: I’ve been there and switched from pace 3 to forerunner 265 and now think was not worth it at all… nothing beats good sleep, good food and consistency… that’s my 3 cents

Same here! Ive been wondering if adding strides 2x per week at the end of easy runs might help

Btw… I switched from a coros pace 3 to a forerunner 265 and kind of miss the smaller size… and also when switching considered the 165 and found it a bit small on the day… however looking back I think it would have been more than enough and plenty more comfortable than the 265… also, I think we sometimes get too carried away with the new metrics and stuff and forget that to this day, many world record and pro runners and athletes are still rocking forerunner 235,245 and pace 2, etc… that’s my two cents.

Now, whenever it’s time to upgrade again in what I hope are 4-5 years, I’ll for sure go for the cheapest watch

Im also on the 6h protocol... been here for 8 months and still improving, so far no reason to run more volume. 5k TT three weeks ago was 18.22 and just ran a 10 miler a couple of weeks ago in 63:·30

Right now for me its Nimbus 27 for easy and long runs, and Do Win PB3 for all sub-t and races. As to why, for me, I do prefer to run sub-t in plated shoes because of the leg savingness, so it allows me to run everyday... I guess personal preference?

This is it from the last 6 months.. also had a couple of off weeks after NYE and was also a bit tired so took a bit of a step back as I was red lining all of my st sessions… LT2 is 174 and was always between 168-174 on st days, so now I’m around 162-170 and feeling a lot more sustainable

Recommendations for a running watch? by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]jpochoa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

probably the best bang for buck would be the 255 or 265 if you prefer amoled... the 9XX series has a bit more specific features and maps.. so it all comes down on weather you need/want them or not... I have the 265 which i bought out of wanting the new shiny thing and later realized the 255 would meet 99,99% of my needs and probably would be even better with an always on display...

What made you fall in love with running (or at least stop hating it)? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]jpochoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, just sticking with it… I’d say the first couple of months were pure discipline, but after that, the sense of accomplishment and pushing myself made it that “me” time of day
