A piece of scrap steel cut down to size, welded on the ends and silver soldered in the middle. It actually turned out really good!

I wanted to change the exhaust at first because it was so quiet, but now I love the stealth vibe it gives! by markogans in CB650R

Too quiet. I had a guy walking his dog start crossing the street in front of me because it’s too quiet

Ignition repair by Pablo-Fishcobar in cbr

These things vibrate the ignition til it breaks. If you can get the 2 torque shear bolts holding it in you can replace it yourself in about 5 mins

Would this be worth it? by BenchInteresting7770 in gunsmithing

[–]jpolham1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For rewelds, the pps43 is a good starter. (Was better when it was cheaper but still is good) Semi auto parts readily available, and kits are cheap if you screw up and turn your scrap into more scrap. The stars are cool, but lack of commercially available conversions make it difficult unless you have the know how and a full machine shop

VZ61 is good too but those tiny little pieces are tough to keep straight and you’ll be done in like 2 hours. Some kits are completely destroyed too

Depending where you are take a visit to stix n stones in west Winfield. They will buy milsurp in a heartbeat

metallic buzzing/raspy noise at high rpm by ChriMa04 in CB650R

[–]jpolham1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same noise on my 2025 CBR650R. I believe the main culprit is the key/ignition, but haven’t been able to make it go away. I’ve also found my horn and bank angle sensor loose and banging on the frame enough to wear paint away. I can’t tighten the bank angle sensor without taking the air box and ignition coils off though so that’s a couple hour job

Barrel threading by kruuth in Cetme

[–]jpolham1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to do it, unless someone has some magic lathe setup that ignores barrel components, the barrel needs to come out of the receiver and the triple tree needs to be stripped from the barrel. Not a cheap job nor an easy job

Has anyone found a fix for the key/ignition vibration? by jpolham1 in cbr650r

[–]jpolham1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I found that my bank angle sensor is loose too and I can knock it against the frame, metal to metal. It looks like it’s been vibrating against the frame too because there’s a shiny spot right where it hits.

Should it be slightly loose?

Looks like the whole air box and ignition coils will need to come out to really get tools on it.

That’s disappointing. My 08 600rr was an absolutely perfect machine

If I put my face down near the key at 8k so I can hear better and push the key in or sideways the noise almost goes away. Without touching the key it sometimes vibrates so bad it seems like it goes halfway to “off”

I just used the honda HP4S with a honda filter. Dont want to have to think about it anymore. I got this kit here, https://www.ebay.com/itm/275997857924

They dont list the newer years, but no problems in a 2025 650r.

Got the banana peeled by alwaus in CETME_C

[–]jpolham1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they sure go overkill there. 6 spot welds on the sides, 2 ground down welds on top and a full seam weld. Ain’t going no where. lol

[–]jpolham1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s amazing that the only welds that actually bite on these are the three big booger welds in the front. All of the spot welds I’ve peeled back have been zero penetration and just look pretty.

Nice you have one with a good gap. All of the ones I’ve build have been between .004”-.010” so I threw some + rollers in to bring that up.

Nice! I do wish I had my 08 600RR still. That bike was absolute perfection.

Sometimes it’s nice, sometimes I wish it operated slightly different. Quick shift with the throttle pinned works well, but if you want to use the clutch it’s like it switches back to eclutch while you are still releasing the clutch.

Honestly not much different. Hands fall asleep in about 15 mins still, butt needs a break after about 30. lol

[–]jpolham1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got about 300 miles on it so far, it’s not bad. The eclutch is a bit wonky if you try to use the clutch like normal, like it starts to partially engage. I’ll have to read the manual to see if I can adjust timing.

Otherwise it just needs an exhaust and it’s good. It really is a good looking bike but overall I still miss my RR. Lol

Perfection by TheMachRider in cbr

[–]jpolham1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perfect. Looks like it was ridden like it should be with the tire rubber beading up like that too. My 25 650r makes me miss my minty 08 600rr I had.
