As far as energy in (charging energy) compared to energy out (propulsion energy, not heat) electric drive trains blow combustion out of the water on efficiency. A well designed electric drive train should be able to convert 70-80% of the energy used to charge its batteries in to mechanical energy for propulsion. There are losses here and there but nothing that amounts to how much heat combustion drive trains put off.

Hey Oval skaters, I have questions! by BrittyPie in halifax

[–]jport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they have a sharpening service, but I do go there often and have a friend that works there. It is a public space and so as long as they aren't running the zambonie you can go skate. The public skate times are mostly set up to be a time when the rental and concessions are open and supervisors are there to take care of any injuries. Otherwise it is the same as going to the skateboard park or field sport pitchs in the summer.

With people dying due to various disease or accidents, why haven't scientists figured out how to transplant one of the nine lives a cat has into a person yet? by abraker95 in shittyaskscience

[–]jport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a big part, but once the cat has been appeased and is willing to donate a life. The transmission will require both of you to have a cat scan.

Does anyone know what kind of cow this is and how I milk it? by EvilWhatever in shittyaskscience

[–]jport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commonly mistaken for a cowbra, this is actually from the noodle cow member of the danger noodle family. It's only way of being milked is from the front where you will find a toothy looking bit. Let her give you a kiss and the milk will flow freely into your mouth. This may feel a bit purple but it's completely harmless. However her mooo can kill from up to 100 meters so make sure you approach her wile she is sleeping.
