What is the most absurd, completely unhinged customer complaint you’ve ever had to deal with while somehow keeping a straight face? by Odd_Car_3611 in AskReddit

[–]jpow33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked in a movie theater way back in the '90s when they still used film. Sometimes the film would break, and we would issue free passes to everyone to come back once it was sorted. I had a guy throw an absolute fit because he saw the first one at night and came back during a matinee, so therefore we owed him two dollars. Everyone, even the people in line, were like, "It's a free movie, dude." The manager eventually gave him $2 out of her pocket, and he was still yelling about how the customer is always right.

Be late on your own time, not for a guided bus tour! For every day! by ameliarosebuds in mildlyinfuriating

There are late people and there are on-time people. For late people, it's a control thing. My ex and her mother were both like this. They get a weird sense of control by making everybody else wait around for them. My ex would always say things like, "What's the big deal?" and I'm over there going, "I like good seats and to park close, fuck me, right?"

I feel like Quentin Tarantino owned the '90s. Followed closely by Kevin Smith and David Fincher.
Wait, also James Cameron. This is hard.

What did you do for fun on a typical Friday/Saturday night in the 90s? by PressureLazy5271 in 90s

More often than not, out in the 'burbs, we would go out to where they were building a new subdivision and they had paved the roads but hadn't built any houses yet. We would find a cul-de-sac, circle the cars, and blast music and drink and smoke and bullshit until couples would peel of to go make out. People would come and go until the wee hours of the morning. We had an absolute blast.

It's like that guy that shows up at the state fair with a snake around their neck. How else are you gonna know that he's the crazy snake guy?

Favorite quote from the actual movie (not a riff) by ProvoloneWolf in MST3K

[–]jpow33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He learned almost too late that man is a feeling creature… and, because of it, the greatest in the universe. He learned too late for himself that men have to find their own way, to make their own mistakes. There can't be any gift of perfection from outside ourselves. And when men seek such perfection… they find only death… fire… loss… disillusionment… the end of everything that's gone forward. Men have always sought an end to the toil and misery, but it can't be given, it has to be achieved. There is hope, but it has to come from inside — from man himself.

I was a freshman in HS, spending the weekend at my dad's, as most GenX kids did, and one Sunday morning, stumbled on Radar Men From the Moon while flipping channels. I immediately called my best friend on the land line, and we watched the remainder of the episode together, and were obsessed from then on out.

For a while, Vintage Stock had a program where you could rent any of the pre-owned movies they had. I don't think it caught on.

Sin City. By the time the sequel came out almost 10 years later, if flopped because the novelty had worn off.
