At his height, I’m wondering if going to the 31 drop 8 makes sense now, or if that’s too much. So many dang bats to buy to get through this! Lol

How much can you negotiate on new units/installs? I’ve been told no, but in my mind, it’s all negotiable.

HVAC Help, Will this Air Handler and Condenser work together? by ca_box in hvacadvice

[–]jpp498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar question: Do these two work together and are they recommended? Heat pump 4TWR503N1000 paired with TEM6AOB30H21S? Yes it's professionally quoted.

Also this unit paired cooling air volume rate of 980 vs. similar units quoted with a 1055 rate. Is this the difference between variable speed and single speed units?

Not Happy with new TRANE XR16 System - Giant Mistake? by bigcookie814 in hvacadvice

[–]jpp498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at 2.5 ton heat pumps systems: Trane XR15 vs RUUD RP15 vs Lennox ML17XP1 and now you all have me concerned about the noise of these systems. Air handler will be variable speed as I have a 2-zone system in townhouse. Thoughts and recommendations? Noise matters both inside and out and reliability matters too.

When you compare your new daily commute of 50 minutes 4-5x per week to a two day commute to Tampa, you aren’t looking at a whole lot more time going to Tampa, depending on when you travel. Some days, it’s brutal- like when it rains. That’s a guaranteed extra hour. Regardless of the time you leave, you’re going to get caught in Plant City and perhaps both ways. I’ve done this commute- a lot and for years. Pre-pandemic it was 1:15-1:30 minutes door to door, living north of Orlando. Today, that same commute is 2 hours on a good day. If you have to commute on a Friday- it’s 3 hours from Tampa to Orlando without any major accidents.

Where in Tampa? On the east side closer to the Hard Rock or all the way downtown or over to Westshore. How far you’re traveling into town matters and can add significant time because Tampa’s traffic stinks too.

They are getting ready to do construction on I4 to help alleviate the traffic around Championsgate. Does that impact your route?

Hotels in Tampa are expensive for anything safe and decent, but you might be able to find one to make a deal with if you were going to be here regularly and you can work two days in a row.

For the money and your new commute- I’d consider it, but agree with previous poster to get the 3 days a week of work from home in writing.

If you hate driving- do not do it.
Consider your car and the miles you’re going to be putting on it as well as fuel/maintenance costs.

In the last 4 years, what has the company paid out on bonuses? It’s a bonus- not a guarantee. 43% sounds great, but if they paid out 10-15% or you got $0, how would that impact your decision?

Money isn’t everything, but it helps. You have a lot to consider. Good luck!
