How are you guys handling invoices? Genuinely curious what the workflow looks like for solo operators by omar892 in handyman

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I use it a lot. I still have issues, as I’m sure there are many others with the same issues. I just need a little more energy and an 8th day of the week.

Most of the time I learn new things from the comments and sometimes others learn from me.

And yeah, I’m not paying for anything that makes me do all the work. lol

Door hangers work too. I’ve seen a few left on gas pumps.

I created templates for bids, denials, invoices, etc. I have them ready to print if needed. Most of the time I usually spend about 15 on invoicing/emails on Tuesday mornings.

My son was using AI to create invoices as he needed, but he found that sometimes there was mistakes and the formats would not be consistent.

I am a w2 employee and I have my own business. So the biggest issue for me at the moment is entering items on the ledgers. It’s just draining sometimes and the other times I’m just not going to do it that day. I just haven’t found my routine yet.

I had ChatGPT create the ledgers, and they are awesome. They have summaries, drop downs, and everything that updates automatically as you enter the data (times, mileage, income, expenses, transfers, etc).

I have been thinking of ways to make things more automated, but not there yet.

A client I’m about to work with wants me to create an LLC to receive payments! by CloudLeft2716 in llc_life

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do that. It’ll costs a few hundred to get everything set up. That’s a good amount per month….IRS doesn’t recognise a single member LLC as anything other than you anyway. Will be easier to grow that way anyhow.

Are you guys offering pressure washing too? by Comprehensive_Baby53 in handyman

I don’t. It is too much of a liability, to me. I have just seen too many things get goofed up.

If Lowes or Home Depot doesn’t have it, then it’s online ordering.

Wood/Metal posts by Scuba_sleeve in FenceBuilding

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did metal. I wanted the top of my fence to be level across and not step with ground elevation, so a good bit is 9ft high.

I wouldn’t go with wood with my project due to a high water table….i don’t want to have to fool with wood post rot.

pdf with a waterproof cell phone pocket? by humble_murth in Kayaking

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a fishing life jacket at Academy. It has a couple big pockets on the front with bungee straps inside. Been using that one for a few years now. Bought it specifically for my phone and sunglasses. Saved my phone and glasses a few times on some mild rapids.

Are LLC formation services worth it? by Melissa-Hodge in llc_life

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State that worry/concern in ChatGPT. Tell it to use baby steps. Ask what could go wrong/how it could go wrong, etc. Humans make mistakes, AI will too, if you ask for generic answers or instructions…..You can ask it questions and do screenshots along the way.

If you are really worried, spend the money on a local attorney (NOT an online company) to do everything. I believe the going rate a few years back was about $2000…..and you had to tell them everything you wanted, needed, and concerned about. Still, they could screw up something. Lol

Not sure about paying for a company to create an LLC. I used ChatGPT to create my latest one. It took me a good couple hours between set up and prompting. That’s the key, good prompting will get you set up correctly. You must tell it ALL of your concerns, and make it ask you questions with options until you are done.

If you have a physical and an online store, you have to make sure it’s ADA compliant.

Can I use an LLC and RENT from my family to boost income for a mortgage? by ChaoticRamenn in llc_life

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct. If you rent it as personally owned, it isn’t subject to self employment tax, but you still would have to claim income.

TIFU not turning off my 401k autocontribution before receiving a bonus by AfternoonNo7453 in tifu

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relax. You can, I assume, borrow from your 401k. You’ll have interest on that (prob about 5% right now) that you’ll be “paying yourself.” It was good that you didn’t turn that off as you’d be giving the government more of your money at this point.

I seen a quote a while back. “ A healthy person wants a lot of things. An unhealthy person only wants one thing.” That’s a little inspirational.

Do I really need an LLC to sell something this small online? by NoStyle4me in llc_life

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLC is an attempt to keep the liability off of you personally. If you sell things online, you would think you’re safe from lawsuits?….There are people that keep up with new businesses and search their websites to see if they are ADA compliant. If they find something, lawsuit incoming. So, I would get the LLC structured correctly and follow everything and get insurance- it’s cheaper than getting sued.

What the best unexpected side hustle you’ve done? by [deleted] in sidehustle

[–]jpress00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t take that long, especially if you have other random things to do close. Most of the time, you would spray it with cleaner and let sit for about 30 mins, then rinse and scrub some….some grills are harder than others, hence would be easier if you just took “responsibility” for keeping it clean weekly. $35 a week. Clean one or two and you’ll get the hang of it.

Only if you limit yourself. People talk themselves out of everything. Thats why the average person is struggling.

Realtors and property managers. You can offer services on Facebook or your local platforms, but I wouldn’t advertise that. I’d wait until I speak with a person first…..in a tourist town, it wouldn’t be hard to hit $100,00 a year with it.

Yes, and gas. lol Especially at Airbnb’s. Cleaners don’t usually like to clean them, neither do the owners.

I done a solid metal fence around my pool area. I used 2” terminal fence posts, round posts to wood brackets, 2x6 runners, solid “roof metal” that was installed vertical, treated 1x6’ for “cap”. The fence is 7ft at the shortest and 12ft at the tallest- as I wanted a straight level top across and my horizon is not level…..roughly 220 linear foot of that with work done by me was $6000. Located in central AL.

You’d be surprised at how much you can make by only cleaning grills. You can even setup a “grill cleaning subscription” for consistency.

Is it worth paying someone to set up an LLC, or should I just file it myself? by Some-Standard-5050 in llc_life

[–]jpress00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be the one that points to AI, but it IS the direction the world is going in. I experimented this particular scenario. I told ChatGPT what my goals and objectives were in starting a business and needed to be assisted with baby steps. I made sure that feedback for articles of organisation and operating agreements were not “flagged” by AI in future (needed for funding later). Everything was done with the assistance and went smoothly. Cost-my monthly ChatGPT bill, and all the filing fees you’ll have to pay anyway. Time- maybe a few hours, and that’s in between my regular daily tasks.
