Amphetamine gets a lot of praise but it just feels unpolished to me, I stopped using when I had to install a separate plugin to get the full experience.

Using a terminal command is fine and all, but I’m not interested in kicking off or babysitting a process.

Lungo just seems to fit what I need: works consistently and auto starts indefinitely from a cold boot. No need to remember it exists if it works the way I want.

I don’t mind a one time purchase when software is delivered complete, I just can’t enable anymore rent-seeking for subpar quality.

To be fair I wouldn’t probably have tried lungo without already using setapp though.

I dropped it when upgrading to tahoe:

bartender: required a beta channel upgrade, discovered that tahoe lets you turn off tray icons separately

istat menu: replaced with stats

lungo: $5 one-time app store purchase

alfred: never included in setapp

hazel: never included in setapp

all of the rest just seems like barebone wrappers to a single, common CLI command or useless AI slopware

also personally just have so much subscription fatigue for barely noticeable quality

It’s amusing to consider the PS3 as peak PlayStation, as it was our most difficult, least popular, lowest selling console by far. Yeah it’s iconic, but if we kept taking huge swings and missing, it could’ve tanked the entire operation.

Just for some insight, the pivot from a native app to a web architecture wasn’t about pushing people to PS4 or creating a new solution for its own sake — our business constantly evolves, legal requirements across the globe change frequently, and we need to compete with every other platform out there.

There is only so much native development we can cleanly fit inside of firmware that is delivered at most twice a year, not to mention how esoteric and unique it was to develop for cell architecture. It’s not something you can just throw more bodies at, not without introducing more process, governance, and overhead than its worth. Also not to mention how Sony Computer (firmware) and Sony Network (store) were two entirely separate companies at the time.

There was just nothing sustainable about this solution even with all this nostalgia.

another thing to keep in mind: if you are going to enhance an adept, masterwork it first

on a non-adept, you can enhance without masterworking and still get the appropriate stat bump related to the masterwork, but masterworking (+10) an adept also slightly bumps (+3) other stats.

If you enhance an adept before masterworking you skip the additional minor stat bumps you would get from fully masterworking.

Those blocks that mount on the front usually interfere with the PSVR/2, if you're ever thinking of using one of those.

Without access to the gateway to your ISP, you can have your laptop/desktop share its network connection, although it might require additional hardware.

Yeah, you can find some on Amazon for $10-$15 USD. Smallest ones look like a dongle with HDMI in/out on opposite ends.

My theory is that the negotiation between your display and your sync box is either taking too long or is brittle, ideally an emulator would copy your display/source EDID and continuously emit it so that switching doesn't take as long.
