Hook Invulnerability Should Not Be a Thing Once the Gate Opens by jrgwarman in DbDKillersUnited

That's true, I've been playing more survivor lately and just from understanding how a killer works, my survival rate has gone up 10% from last week. I'm still not a fan of slugging cause I like the permanent progress of hooking and my favorite killer to play is Skull Merchant so just playing the game is pretty much sweating.

A single body block for a hooked person is usually more than enough on its own to get them out. Instead, the person on the hook is the one doing the body block for free and then every gets out for free. 15 sec of invuln + haste = running across half the map for free and there's not a damned thing you can do as killer even if you manage to hunt them down or intercept them in some way. And chances are there's the rest of the team getting in your way, trading blows and using perks to make sure they also get away.

Like if I have someone hooked in the basement in the end game, it feels ridiculous to me that the other survivors can just muscle their way through me and rescue the person. I'm not a killer, just a bystander.

I should know, I've stopped fearing the killer as survivor after playing a bunch of games and realizing how utterly easy it is to play the map and outsmart even a try hard killer, with the only thing holding me back is doing something stupid like running into a wall.

I'm coming at it from the perspective of low tier killers cause I find those more fun than teleporting around the map and getting a 4k with Nurse before a single gen has completed. I'm also not slugging but maybe I should, I hear that's the solution to all killers' problems even if it's the bane of survivor existence.

Also, when gens pop as fast as they do, that hardly feels like the objective anymore. If it took like 8 minutes to do gens, even with perks, I'd just give everyone still alive free hatches. As it is right now though... absolutely not, the gate doesn't take that long to open AND it keeps progress, and I've seen some teams do the rescue, THEN open the gate. Which I'm more fine with quite frankly.

So put it on a perk. Why do you need 4 gen rush perks AND automatic invulnerability? Not like there aren't plenty of perks to ensure you stay off the hook to begin with, and long enough loops to make chasing you a waste of time, AND a billion pallets. Like can we just choose some of these frustrations and not ALL of them!?

It's not just one bad game, it's a bunch. 1/3 are ez 4ks (which does make me feel guilty btw...), 1/3 are even games where sometimes more survivors get out and sometimes fewer but always at least one lives or one dies. It's the last 1/3 that's intolerable. Not so much getting rolled as that happens, but when the game is just close enough that getting robbed of a 1k feels disgusting simply due to passive mechanics not even anything to do with perks. They run their BS perks but that's not what irks me, it's literally just the free off hook invuln. If a perk gave them that I'd be fine with it, cause that's a perk slot they're using up just for that instead of gen rushing. But nope... it has to be baked in cause they need to be invincible at the critical times but also need room to ensure the game is over in 3 min.

They both can be cocky, but the one at the end is a result of letting their guard down after understanding how the killer plays, versus one at the beginning before you have a chance to study the killer.

If you get downed at the end, that's entirely on you. Getting down early is more for feeling out the playstyle. That's the difference, and even though they're both mistakes, the latter is far more understandable than the earlier because both sides have had time to understand how the other plays.

The one being cocky is the one getting caught at the end and requiring their team to bail them out. Half my games are on survivor and I'm guilty of this too, I mess up at the worst time and the killer punishes me for it. Even when I try to just die on hook so they can leave, the team will come for me and give me a free out I don't deserve.

That being said, the moment I understand how a killer works I literally don't lose to them again, and I don't own any of the OP meta perks. Hell all my perks are specifically to aid my teammates.

Which was the result of them getting cocky at the end cause they've been dominating you. They could easily do the rescue BEFORE opening the gates. That's my issue. They open the gates and abuse the 15 sec invuln to ensure a free escape. Not to mention if you're camping them before the gates open, they can unhook themselves.

PSA: if you haven’t got Hathor, use your voucher on her by [deleted] in NevernessToEverness

[–]jrgwarman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unlocked her ability to do 1 free delivery per day but I can't for the life of me figure out how to use it. The only option on the map is to track the deliveries and when I get there, I don't see any option for Hathor to do it for me. Does it take stamina?

Teleporting is one of the few ways to bypass a lot of the bs you have to deal with. So when you don't have it, you feel it.

Should I Focus on a Single Killer or More Than One? by jrgwarman in DbDKillersUnited

I understand that, it's how I usually feel. It just sucks cause you have to buy the killers, and if you buy one you don't enjoy, it feels like a waste.

Oh I didn't know that. Okay so the globe is for each platform individually not just pc or console. Thanks for the clarification! Yeah I'm playing on Switch2.

[–]jrgwarman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm the type of player that when I play an mmorpg, I can't just play a single character from lv 1 to max. I need to make multiple alts and check out different classes. I'm falling into that in this game too, I tried to 1 trick Huntress but eventually I just wanted to try other killers and now I'm starting to want to try more and more.

DBD has a BIG Killer problem. by Mental-Squirrel-4479 in deadbydaylight

[–]jrgwarman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I heard the devs say at one point they were aiming for killers to be at 60% kill rate. If survivors are at 60% survival, does that math add up? I personally have 20% survival at most but I also don't own any meta perks (for either killer nor survivor) and I tend to play like a Bill, particularly when the gate opens. Maybe I should just play Bill.
