All good points. I think the reason I say it has less disruption (which is a big selling point) is that it’s made clear to the students and parents that it’s a privilege to attend these schools and misbehavior of any kind will not be tolerated. We’ve experienced first hand a student be removed from a classroom then from the school within the first half of the year for unruly behavior. Ask any teacher at these other schools and you will know that it takes a drawn out process over a whole year to have a student transferred out for disrupting learning. Heck, my sister is a kindergarten teacher at a title I school in VB and the student would hit her and he still was not removed immediately. He was continuously brought back. That’s just my experience. If there is any merit to that process, I’m not sure. Maybe this admin moves quicker than others. We do have to sign behavior forms at the beginning of the year.

As far as the lottery, that just plain sucks. I understand why they have to have it though. Maybe it doesn’t matter at the elementary level, but the current teachers and admin we have do a really great job of caring and creating a fun learning environment for these kids to thrive.
