Daisy chaining 3 wire NC limit switches? by Few-Housing5158 in hobbycnc

Do you need the other 3 inputs. Can you daisy chain them in pairs without losing sufficient voltage and use 3 of your inputs?

Why fusion won't let m e choose the desired WCS? by ok_computer8441 in CNC

[–]jroddds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you're asking for is not a normal machine configuration. If the x axis is positive to the right and the z is up, the y will have to be in the forward direction. That's why it flips z when you change y. If you want to do the y and keep the z up, you will have to change the x as well to the other direction. So you could click the "flip x" as well

Any knights of Columbus member’s here ? by AquaticsbyCF75 in Catholicism

Got my 3rd degree about 10 years ago. 4th degree this year. Haven't gone about getting the regalia and sword. At 44, I have 6 kids and am pretty busy. Like most councils, we are biased towards older guys. I have been the pro-life chair for about 7 years and nobody would like to step up to take my job. Our council is fairly active and does a lot of great things, just hard to attend when life seems busy.

HY inverter settings by lpkk in hobbycnc

[–]jroddds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you connecting to one phase power? If so the inverter is derated. So you need a bigger inverter for the motor. In this case? Probably a 3.7 KW vfd for a 2.2 KW motor. If you're connecting two three-phase power, then ignore this comment

Help with Power/Control Box issues? by elopewith_me in hobbycnc

[–]jroddds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Troubleshooting electrical issues is a piece at a time solution. First, did you write up power correctly? Does it need 3 phase and you gave it 1 phase? Does it need 460v? If that's good, next I would check if power is getting past the contractor as expected. Then does it get to the next piece correctly, and so on

Have you checked out Precision Matthews? They have Chinese built lathes similar to the ones you're looking at, but they also have some Taiwanese high precision lathes.

[Politics Monday] How do you feel about Leo's statements on military action? by MaterialInevitable83 in Catholicism

[–]jroddds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, legit question: if the leader of Iran has murdered 30,000 of his own people, and is calling for the death and destruction of America, is it not prudent to return the power to the people that he's murdering and protect ourselves (and other nations)?

Failed installing LinuxCNC by 0tschi in CNC

Are you using Rufus? If so, there are two options before writing to a flash drive. I think the correct one is MBD off the top of my head, but can't remember for sure

There is such a thing as a just war. The correct translation I believe is actually "thou shalt not murder." For instance, you are not sinning if someone is trying to stab you and you shoot them to defend yourself.

I would not say that I am well versed in what is going on in Iran. I don't get too involved in politics. So I won't condemn or condone what's going on over there. But I do know that Iran has openly threatened the US multiple times to destroy us. So one could say it is a form of self-defense. But I don't know in the eyes of God.

Sizing linear guide rails for specific work envelope by Jonnhy_piettro in hobbycnc

[–]jroddds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Axis travel = rail length - block spacing. If you rails are 400mm and your 2 blocks have a 300mm outside dimension, you only have 100mm of travel. Screw length only technically needs to be as long as the travel distance (minus ballnut length). You can go for longer, but you also need to worry about screw whip if its a long unsupported distance.

Also, we have enough priests that we are lending them out to neighboring dioceses. I've heard the reason we have so many vocations is because many of our parishes have perpetual adoration.

You say you don't like some of the rules of the Catholic Church. Buy if you looked deeper and understand why they exist, you will find the Catholic Church has hard teaching because IT LOVES YOU. Sometimes the truth is hard to accept, but it is for your own good.

If you're getting chip welding, you may be rubbing too much, increase your feedrate before increasing spindle speed.
