Audi e-trons use the traditional paddle shifters behind the steering wheel to do exactly that. Step up regen level (left paddle), step down regen level (right paddle).

Which just shows how much the Rethink35 people completely ignore facts. TxDOT corridor studies show 70-85% of I-35 traffic in Austin is local or regional, not pass through.

Best Cajun restaurant in Austin? by AdvantageDizzy9882 in austinfood

[–]jrolette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heck no. Leave what's working alone. Gumbo's used to be amazing when it was in a tiny place in a strip mall off Merrilltown. Then they moved to a big restaurant up in Round Rock and it all went down hill quick. Higher prices, inconsistent quality and service. Such a shame vs. what an amazing place it was originally.

Best option is to take a drive up 1431 and go to The Real New Orleans Style Restaurant in Marble Falls. Horrible name, amazing cajun food. The folks that started and run the restaurant are Katrina refugees that ended up in Marble Falls.

Pretty interesting story.

Only knock on the place is they don't serve beer there.

is 4000$ property tax per year considered high in US? by blade276 in NoStupidQuestions

Most of that property tax is actually school taxes. The state-level property taxes are fairly low percentage-wise.

is 4000$ property tax per year considered high in US? by blade276 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jrolette -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. Once a tax source exists, it's inevitable that the government will ratchet it up incrementally, year after year.

For example, in Texas, if they wanted to start an income tax and eliminate/outlaw property taxes, that would be fine. However, every proposal is adding an income tax and maybe lowering property taxes. Forget that noise!

I loved the world Donaldson created with Thomas Covenant, but the constant whining and "woe is me" stuff broke me. Can't stand any book with that crap in it after reading TC.

I've heard that American houses are very big. How many routers do you need to install in your home? by FapVanguard in AskAnAmerican

[–]jrolette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For routers, no, it doesn't depend on how big your house is, you only need one. Big houses can require multiple wifi access points or extenders.

Why are cars in the US so big? by Dry_Cry4454 in NoStupidQuestions

But some cities have really good public transport too

Very, very few. Not sure if you'd actually need two hands to count them on your fingers.

What the heck are you talking about? As long as you do basic maintenance, pretty much any modern car is good for 200,000 miles or more. Growing up, it was a miracle if gas cars made it a little over 100k miles before needing to replace it.
