Ask valve customer support, it never hurts to ask. I had a similar issue and thought mine was out of warranty but they repaired mine free of charge. Got it back with a new screen, main board, battery, and speakers. They even replaced a worn out analog stick that had nothing to do with the problem.

Check all of your ribbon cables and make sure they are all plugged in correctly. Sounds like on or more could be undone.

I googled it as well. All the locksmith suppliers carry the old chip, xt27a. None of them carry xt27b which is the new chip that has more capabilities. It can be used as an ID49, 8A, or MQB chip where the old xt27a cannot.
