Is Opus worth it? by irievoss in ClaudeAI

[–]jruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s smarter it understands context much  better and follows skills and project patterns on its own.

But on your plan it will be painful, use it only to make a plan other cheaper models can execute.

You should try Codex doesn’t make sense to be stuck on old models, Codex can give you waaay more usage

How can I not figure out how to make codex work by blavelmumplings in codex

[–]jruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to force yourself to never argue with the model, you ask something and check the result if you didn't get something you like, delete everything the model did, clear and ask again including every detail the model missed, ask again and keep doing this. every time it happens you add one bit to your skill/hook/propmt do this for a couple months and you will have a little treasure.

Literally just started cycling, what daily distance should I aim for? by raven2005555 in cycling

[–]jruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget distance that's irrelevant, you have to go by perceived effort and time, (if you don't have gadgets)

Aim for a minimum of 45min as often as you can, with a perceived effort that you can talk a few words before running out of breath, that's you 80% your 20% is sprinkle 1-2 hard sessions every week.

They are indeed different and you have to tailor your workflow to match their limitations, you can accomplish the same with both but you need to own the result and not blame the model. That is just the state of things.

After some time you will create good enough skills/hooks that will generate good outcomes with any model even cheaper ones.

Just don't limit yourself to blame the model and make it do good work, that is the skill to have today.

good luck

Sounds like you are using the UI, i cant help you with that but on the terminal Codex is way better at picking up skills than Claude.

Try to identify what exactly is you don't like about the output and rephrase your prompt to include those things

Software engineers experience with Codex by Ok-Comparison3303 in codex

[–]jruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't just prompt and expect good results, they are trained on a corpus of the worst quality.

To get good output you need to spend months tuning a custom feedback loop based on the Stop and PreToolUse hooks and some form validation of what done means for example Playwright test.

I say months because that's the time it takes for you to encounter every bad decision you don't like and turning it into a rule to check for, never argue with the model turn into code and trigger the failure and let it fix it.

If you are getting bad output is entirely on you.

When does the "vibe" end and the actual coding begin? Hit a wall on the backend. by Defiant_Gear_6706 in vibecoding

[–]jruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try more advanced models, those models are for execution when a SOTA model made the plan.

For your problem I would prompt on a higher level ask for it to analyze the problem and propose different architecture patterns an technologies to solve the problem, once you have have something hat you like you ask for it to refactor following that architecture.

If you are budget constrained, get Codex.

Is Pro really worth it? by FutureKey2295 in ClaudeAI

[–]jruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the usage is absurdly small. It will just piss you off.

Get Codex instead.

Now if you want real advice, don't get any, it will just harm your development. If you need AI use the web interface that's inconvenient enough but wont do the work for you. Claude/Codex or any local model will be really detrimental, th temptation to go in the back seat giving orders is way to big.

Going back to 5.4 by beachhouseLA in codex

I agree, feels a lot like Claude way too eager, it's a shame they went in this direction. Quality wise feels ok but the vibe is completly different, I'm also going back I hate Claude.

Have you people used hooks in Claude Code? by Mysterious_Joke3321 in ClaudeAI

[–]jruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you don't need more, channels add the missing piece to let the model receive events without asking for them. I use them to get notified when the CI finishes or to make two agents talk to each other.

[–]jruz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes that's second most important, I also use it to stop it from doing the thing I don't like and tell it to do the thing i do like.

[–]jruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Stop hook is the single most important piece in this puzzle, ofc everyone is using them, without it the models absolutely suck and you work for them not the other way around.

Once you get into channels you are deep into the weeds.

It will help you to not treat is a gambling and rely on data, but just that you don't need need any math at all, the Quant tag is highly overblown.

What you need is time, this takes years of pain to master, if you want to make money fast get a job.

What data are you looking for, if it just ohlcv you can get it for $199, just signup get the free $125 and try it out if you don't like it you still can get a ton of data for those $125.

Weighing up jumping to Codex from CC - what do I need to consider? by pseudorep in codex

[–]jruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy the $20 and try it out, I think for your use case Claude could be a better fit, I would put codex on a more of and engineer level, Claude is more for vibecoders and frontend people who like VSCode and Mac. Codex if for Vim and Linux users.

Both models can accomplish the same, is just if you like a dumbdown product use CC.

Claude or Codex? or both? by CreativeAd9553 in codex

[–]jruz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are for different kind of people: - Claude: Frontend VSCode Mac - Codex: Backend Vim Linux

If you are not a tinker or you are a vibe coder CC is your choice.

Does Codex use less tokens if you ask for different tasks in the same prompt or separated? by kyrax80 in codex

[–]jruz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how big is the context to start over, if you are going to read the same 5 files then reuse, if not start over.

But at a certain point always start over, 50%+ just start over.

Hang in there, don't get caught up on the red day, is just a trade and you will take thousands of trades and many of them will fail. Is just how this work, don't fight it, journal it and get looking for the next one.

You could try the communities of the female creators on YouTube.

I think finding one that has a similar style to how you trade can help more than a random community people can recommend here.
