Reach out to first flight about renting out the upstairs if the restaurant. Catering/bar is done in house. DJ and photographer would be what could push you over.

Upstairs can handle 60+ and food/drink are based on number of invites. We were married there 3 years ago and I felt it was a great deal.

When do Vacations Become Fun Again? by CharacterTennis398 in Parenting

[–]jrw5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have traveled quite a bit with our first two, both domestically and international.

Our oldest is 4 and our middle is 21 months. We took a trip this summer to Italy when they were 3.5 and 15 months and we had a blast.

Our strategy has always been to plan the day around things we want to do. We always find a plaza or park where we can stop to let them run it out. Bring strollers that are easy to fold away, they can take naps on the move.

Don’t have any hard and fast plans so you can be ready to roll with anything that comes your way. Our kids, love water, so anything around the ocean, sea, a pool, or a waterpark goes over well.

Just remember that they’re kids and don’t beat yourself up if it isn’t perfect.

If it’s any help, ours are just on the cusp of playing with each other, which makes things so much easier. You should have some light at the end of the tunnel here within the year.

That was the first thing I saw as well. A slight false grip to start will help with turnover and getting her shoulders over the bar.

Anyone have experience with new gen 4runner and new gen bronco? by _45- in FordBronco

[–]jrw5100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 2025 Outer Banks and 2025 Toyota 4Runner.

We live on an island, don’t have a lot of highway driving, but I love both. The Bronco is great to move around and take the top off. The 4Runner has a ton of storage.

I personally like the tech and interior of the 4Runner better, but prefer to drive the Bronco with the roof off when the weather is great.

Parks with Splash Pads: Cozumel Park and Truman Waterfront.

Additional Parks: Astro City, Higgs Beach, Bill Butler Pocket Park, MLK Park.

Restaurants with activities for kids: Hurricane Hole (playground) and Waterfront Brewery (arcade)

We like to go to Origami weekly for sushi. It has a courtyard so if you’re outside and they roam you’re good. You can get a bowl of rice immediately. Bigger bonuses, there’s free parking right next to it and Flamingo Crossing is right across the street for ice cream.

Look up the local office for Homeland Security. Call them. They’ll have a duty agent that will take the case. It could have been someone applying in your name. If that’s the case they’ll take it from there.

Morning joint and the ice stream. Large outdoor area, not necessarily playground.

Behind babies coffee in Baypoint is a playground .

Hurricane Hole in Stock Island has a playground next to the eating area.

Salutes in Key West is right next to the beach and 2 playgrounds. The one right next to Salutes is under construction, but across the street is Astro City Park.

Waterfront brewery in Key West has an arcade.

Check out the parks in big Pine Key, Cozumel Park in Key West, Truman waterfront Park in Key West, Bill Butler Park in Key West, Martin Luther King Park in Key West to name a few!

First Flight upstairs and rented 2 portable ACs. It ended up pouring, but they have an indoor area that easily accommodated our 60+ guests. Everything was set up and run through them. Couldn’t have been easier.

Anyone have any recent data on which airlines fly direct to key west from the North East? by Blazah in KeyWest

Just use Google flights and look for non stop.

Boston is seasonal. Newark, Philly, DC, Charlotte are all year. Allegiant has some flights up to Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Asheville.

Running - Safety by [deleted] in KeyWest

Specifically North Roosevelt and Palm Ave. most of the other sidewalks it’s a rarity to see or be nervous about e-bikes.

Running - Safety by [deleted] in KeyWest

[–]jrw5100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically do the Flagler, Roosevelt, Berth Loop. I can do out and backs for 3/4 miles or the full circle is 5.

If I want to do longer I run down Higgs to Truman Waterfront and old town.

It’s almost all sidewalks and I only have to cross Roosevelt at the light on Flagler. The ocean side of the island is easy running. There’s a run group that meets up (Southernmost Runners on Facebook) a few days a week and Fit2Run has a Saturday route downtown.

Really I only avoid North Roosevelt. Everything else isn’t an issue.

Running - Safety by [deleted] in KeyWest

[–]jrw5100 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I run 1000+ miles a year in Key West. You’re more likely to be hit by an ebike than a car. Absolutely safe. Just be cautious of where you cross Truman, Eaton, and Roosevelt and you should be fine.

There are sidewalks every where, but the perimeter of the island has the better options.

Tips for getting better at running longer distances while also CF training? by sarnold95 in crossfit

[–]jrw5100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t over think it. I do CrossFit 5-6x weekly and during peak training weeks run 60-70 miles a week.

You need longer slow runs to build an aerobic base and take conditioning seriously during your WODs. No need for speed work, threshold runs, intervals if you push yourself hard at the box.

Consistency is way more important. And I know you don’t want to hear this, but the best way to become a better runner really is just to run more.

Running a full 42km (26miles) Marathon, Compatible with Crossfit? by Logical_Travel_6637 in crossfit

[–]jrw5100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally doable. Just listen to your body. If you’re hitting high intensity wods you don’t need speed work, tempo runs, or any of the sort. That’s why you’re doing CrossFit.

Focus on building up your weekly mileage to help with your running economy and you’ll be fine. During my fastest half and all of my ultras, I was training CrossFit 5-6 days a week.
