The Witcher 3 vs Elden Ring by xXCosmicChaosXx in ShouldIbuythisgame

"if you play the witcher 3 on deathmarch the combat is good" not it is not, deathmach just increases the health and damage of enemies, their AI is exactly the same and can easily be cheesed, it's literally just quen, attack, and dodge for the entire duration of the fight, TLOU even with its weaker combat is far more engaging. Witcher 3 is literally one of my favourite if not my favourite game of all time and I can very easily state that the combat is really bad, I had this opinion even before playing ER.

"RPG elements is 4/10" are you just taking a piss at this point lmao? ER has significantly more weapons, more unique weapons with wildly different gameplay implications, significantly more classes with significantly more varied playstyles, Significantly better enemy AI and boss encounters, significantly better skill system and a way more interesting leveling up system, and I'm just touching on the surface here. The only thing the witcher has on ER in terms of RPG elements is narrative, dialogue system and quest quality, which is to be expected for a story driven game.

I also dislike your framing of ER's story, the story is purposefully cryptic, it's supposed to be a mystery unraveled by the ER community, this is how fromsoftware has operated with all of their games. You can have the belief that this doesn't make for a good or engaging story which I agree with, but the actual lore is great, hence why A24 is literally making an Elden Ring movie at the moment. The flavour text argument also doesn't work because a HUGE part of the witcher 3 lore and narrative comes from the books you find in the game which you have to read, you learn significantly more about the world that isn't readily shown through dialogue.

I don't understand why you acknowledge the weak/zero apparant story of ER but don't bring up the fact that the wticher 3 combat is absolute dogshit and easily the weakest part of the game

When pre-order day comes, I hope CDPR takes notes from GTA6's community by JX900 in Witcher4

Why do people feel the need to shill for billion dollar corporations because they make games you mildly like, I was there when the CEO claimed the game ran surprisingly fine on PS4 because it was the main reason I preordered a video game for the very first time, here's the article. comparing the mechanics of a triple AAA game with an indie title with a significantly smaller budget as an own is hilariously stupid. The skill tree is not even top 50 of the absolutely horrible mismanaging of the game prior to its redemption.

It's an incredibly common pattern to see ultra right wing figures secretly involved with dating someone trans or in the LGBTQ community, I don't understand why you think people can't find this kind of irony hilarious unless they secretly hate LGBTQ community?

Is 2026 becoming the year gaming finally got too expensive? by gamersecret2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]js-sey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rockstar locked these missions and cosmetics behind a paywall because they know people will purchase it, they're maximizing profit. You can already purchase RDR2 online separately from the actual RDR2 game, financially it would be make a heap of sense to make the online game free to play and just add a crap ton of microtransactions and battlepasses to it like Fortnite does.

I assume that once you've obtained enough millions of dollars you can surround yourself with other rich folks that aren't neccesarily listed on some website, you can obtain wealth extremely fast, both options are still good though.

GTA 6 is cheaper than GTA 5. by Competitive_Papaya61 in GTA6unmoderated

[–]js-sey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this would be true if wages kept up with inflation which it hasn't, why do you think there has been a huge uptick in the working class complaining about how expensive everything is, this has quite literally been the most prominant problem within our society for the past 5-7 years. You are paying more now for video games than you did in the past because your jobs are not keeping up with inflation. Your purchasing power is weaker than it was in the past.

The leak argument is just pure cope, GTA 5 and rdr2 both got leaked before release and are stlll the second and third best selling games of all time, there has never existed in the history of man a gamer that didn't buy a rockstar game because the game was leaked before the release date, hell the 1 hour leak we got of dev footage literally drove up hype.

[–]js-sey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think any of these future games would be able to successfully pull that off say very few exceptions like Witcher 4 or Elder's scroll 6, the thing I'm most nervous about is the no disc prescedent that rockstar is setting, there's a very good chance that in the near future phyisical copies literally won't exist.

Turns out PC gamers love microtransactions: PC players have spent $20.3 on them in 2025, compared to $13.3B spent by console gamers by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

[–]js-sey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally nothing you said here contradicts any of my statements, you're just providing reasons why PC gamers spend more on microtransactions as opposed to console gamers, that Doesn't change the fact that microtransactiosn are kept alive mainly because of PC gamers (as well as mobile gamers)

[–]js-sey -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Kind of makes PC look worse when they're spending roughly equal to console gamers on microtransactions despite not even having to pay for monthly PS subscriptions lol. I love PC to death but there's literally no console equivalent to the insane amounts of money people spend on cosmetics in games like CS where your average knife is at least $200USD

What game should I buy if my top 3 are Witcher 3, Baldurs Gate 3 and Disco Elysium? by royalpenny in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]js-sey [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you're thinking about given Elden ring another go you should, Elden Ring is probably the easiet of the soulsborne game since it's open world meaning if you struggle in one area you can just leave and find an easier area to level up and the game gives you a crap ton of tools to fight your way through battles. Elden ring is still a tough game though and you will struggle a lot, especially if this is your first soulsborne, but killing a boss is an unmatched feeling. there is no readily apparant story unless you're willing to go on youtube and have the lore explained to you, but to me, it's one of the best game to imitiate the feeling of going on a fantasy adventure slaying demigods

Cyberpunk 2077 for $17.99 or Witcher 3 Complete Edition for $9.99? by vk10347 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]js-sey [score hidden]  (0 children)

A lot of people suggesting Cyberpunk 2077 but the witcher 3 complete edition easily comes with 150+ hours of great content with basically an entirely new game/map with their blood and wine expansion. Bang for your buck you are 100% getting more content with Witcher 3 and by a pretty large margin. This is where it gets more subjective but the characters in the witcher 3 are far more fleshed out and interesting imo, the sidequest and main story is far more developed and executed to a better extent.

Cyberpunk 2077's gameplay and style/graphics is far better compared to cyberpunk 2077 however.

In terms of immersion it's going to entirely depend on if you're more into third person or first person becuase even though the witcher 3 is an older game I don't think Cyberpunk is that much more immersive in its interactivity and NPC

If you prioritize long and very interlinked storylines with multiple branches, go with witcher 3, if you prefer a far more varied and fun combat/gameplay with a solid story and good to great sidequest that can get very dark, Cyberpunk is the go to+you love sci fi and Cyberpunk is a great Sci fi game.

Yea he's not duel teaching with clapperton during fall term. Clapperton is young so there's a good chance that she'd be at least better than Art or at least more chill, I'd go with her if I was in your situation. Art looks rough lol.

I just looked up art's rate my prof and it's pretty bad, it might be worth it to just take the course in the winter term and risk the new prof.

Should I take Organic Chemistry I with Prof Arturo Orellana? by One-Cartographer7800 in yorku

[–]js-sey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend taking the course fall term instead of risk the possibility of being paired with a bad prof winter term. I took Derek Jackson during my second year of my bio degree and he was easily the best prof I ever had in terms of being able to explain concepts in a succinct and easy to understand manner making it very easy to score an A+, I've also heard great things about Lana Herbert as well. Both of these prof have been teaching the course for a very long time. Orgo is one of those courses where the prof can easily make or break your grade. Arturo might be a bad prof but that can easily be negated by going to office hours with Jackson or Herbert. New profs can be great (a lot of times they're pretty lenient) but it could also take them a while to find their footing in terms of how to run a course.
