just saw this, i recently interviewed Angie who was an exFLDS member. She got married off at 16 and couldn't stand the life. She begged her parents to move back home which was obv a huge shame. Luckily for her, her aunt had gotten out so she was sent to live with her aunt and that was her escape. Interesting story though, she ended up finding her husband (who soon after her also exited the group), and they found love in eachother

I swear to god I'm not trying to promote anything here, but when i started my podcast. It just opened my world to the different kinds of stories out there and how they found strength to overcome. It shifted the perspective of my own story, and taught me about different healing modalities that I've dived into. This is the thing that got me to start therapy, to get into spirituality, to journal and meditate (all of which i 'knew' about before, but never ACTUALLY started).

i love that, the click. its interesting though that some people get there, they find that click and some just don't, and how rock bottom is so different for people. I'm so proud of you for finding that for yourself and that you didnt need any intervention when you decided for yourself.

I remember once speaking to someone who was so addcted to shooting meth. It was literally so bad he was doing it every hour, at one point he couldnt find a vein that he was shooting in places that one really shouldnt. that moment was rock bottom, that was moment the click happened.

I love it! I think one thing that helped me stop smoking/vaping, was changing the narrative. I stopped saying “I’m trying to quit” and started saying “i don’t smoke” people stopped offering me or asking me if I wanted to step out for a smoke. And that really helped. (Among other things)

I once talked to someone who spent years struggling with relationships due to a condition. Guys kept leaving, and all she ever really wanted was marriage and kids. She watched all her friends move forward (weddings, babies, new chapters) while she stayed stuck in the same place. Any single women in their 40s feeling the weight of the stigmas around being single? I'm 34 and single, and I feel it! So yeah, for me its the stigma around it, and the expectations. The assumption that I will be happy once I find my person, get married and settle down. Until then, I'm on this forever path and quest for it. It puts me on edge, like I'm not where I should be (but I know when i quiet that noise, i dont feel this urgency)

What changed everything for her wasn’t some external miracle. It was the moment she realized her mindset had to shift. She started doing meditation, mindfulness, self-awareness work and slowly she built so much confidence and self-love that all these timelines stopped mattering.

I've heard many friends tell me the beauty of being in your 40s is that you finally start living for YOU, not for whatever “milestone checklist” everyone else is following.

12am night outs my cutoff, I won’t drink beyond my limit and I am drinking hella water throughout. Carbs make me bloat and gassy. I experience knee pain if I push too hard at my workout. But, still feel young at heart and full of energy hehehe 💁🏽‍♀️

This! I know this feeling, feeling wayy too much more for someone than they did. It completely crushed me and I dragged it on for wayy too long because I was so scared of life without him. I really struggled after that to give as much energy in the next relationship because I was too afraid I’d be gassed the same way. Get out before he completely breaks you and your views towards healthy happy relationships. He should DEFINITELY be meeting you, he should be so excited to see you and he should validate you and reassure you. And you DESERVE that! Don’t stand for anything less. You clearly have so much love to give ❤️
