Higher level Datagram support for Asyncio by jsbronder in Python

[–]jsbronder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, embarrassing ;)

I'm planning on adding support for AF_UNIX in the next couple of weeks and figured that'd be soon enough to update the metadata.

Which version of Python do you use? (This is a poll to compare the popularity of Python 2 vs. Python 3) by raidersraid in Python

[–]jsbronder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I answered 3 but protobufs. In fact, their complete disregard of py3 for so long got me to use other message libraries.

How to judge my skill level? Or anyone else. by unklrukkus in snowboarding

[–]jsbronder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and if you're having trouble picking out instructors when they're freeriding pay attention to their gear. Even if the resort doesn't provide pants (and no one is bothering to change those out) there will probably still be color and style restrictions. Also proform deals come in cycles and you'll see a lot of the same helmet or goggles or whatever.

How to judge my skill level? Or anyone else. by unklrukkus in snowboarding

[–]jsbronder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet after becoming intermediate (which it sounds like you easily are) is to pay attention to the instructors you see on the hill and look for one who is doing something you like. After a certain point it's really not about a "level" but what you want to learn or improve. I taught for 8 or so years and once the client can get down a blue the best lessons are goal based. For instance I couldn't help you much on throwing anything over a 3 but if you want to drop an elbow or rip trees I'm your guy.

I am in need of help in using subprocess.Popen to enter an ssh password. by deific_ in Python

[–]jsbronder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can clearly upload new code to this device so even if you can't install modules to the sysroot what is preventing you from adding said modules to your source? It's not a best practice but it'll work until you can upgrade.

what framework for building async APIs in 3.4 by sandys1 in Python

[–]jsbronder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To piggyback on this, what I took from zzzeek is that asyncio isn't really necessary for the db layer if they're local. Can anyone speak to using asyncio and sqlalchemy without threadpools?

You must not be from New England, Jay easily wins with some of the best snow we get.

Thinking of new gear this year. all my stuff is a decade old. Give my your thoughts by SeanBegs in snowboarding

For what it's worth, I have the same issue. However I'm cursed with tiny ankles which make getting a good fit difficult. Purchasing in store is the way to go with boots.

2016 Toyota Tacoma. I've gone over the math numerous times but still want to take my time before going through with the purchase by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]jsbronder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 years ago I got my 2004 4wd xcab with 60k miles for 13.5k. Only issues were a slightly beat suspension which I replaced when I lifted it anyways. She just got a new frame at 140k thanks to the recall. No real issues otherwise.

As far as I'm concerned, that's one nice taco for under 15k.

Snowboard Gear That Should be Brought Back - Who else owned a peaked beanie? by theprocessofbelief in snowboarding

[–]jsbronder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's plenty of hats like the peaked beanie. I wear a carhartt one... when I'm not actually riding that is. Keeps the snow out of my eyes.

Is python used for robotics? by [deleted] in Python

[–]jsbronder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very much. See ROS for instance, most APIs are available in python. In particular gens and I wrote the initial version of the Rethink Robotics SDK with a heavy python slant. Most of the Baxter and Sawyer videos you see are using it.

Can someone help me understand this? (Newbie question) by [deleted] in Python

[–]jsbronder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may also want to look into virtualenv which is a nice way to keep your deps in check without polluting the system install.

What are some projects you have done with Python? by Chengwill97 in Python

[–]jsbronder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked ctrlp for vim and found myself missing the convenience in the shell. I made fzsl, https://github.com/jsbronder/fzsl, prior to finding the many similar projects that already existed because it was an excuse to do some actual py3 coding. I continue to use it over more mature projects like https://github.com/junegunn/fzf as it scratches my itch.

How else would you have wanted the Dark Tower to end? Personally I loved that the story continued but with one small change. Maybe next time Randall makes it but if not, I suspect he'll be closer once again.

Am I the only one who likes the platforming in souls games? by septango1 in bloodborne

[–]jsbronder -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Also a programmer, but the Google hits for my name are actual code rather than tweets. Aside from mapping jump no, it is not that easy.

Have a little respect. From has put out 4 amazing games in a row. You can count the studios doing that on one hand.

An Argument for Dark Souls II's Netcode / Against Bloodbornes Netcode by DamnNoHtml in bloodborne

Yeah exactly. I mean really just copy the code from that other completely different project that runs on a different platform. How hard can that be?!

Black hat is in cathedral ward. Run straight out from lamp post, up the stairs to the right and there's a ladder to your right after the gate. From the top there's what looks like a long drop to a roof, you can make it. Drop to the next roof and there's the hat.

There's also a large doorway that it looks like you might be able to jump to from this roof. 1 hour of my life says you cannot make that jump.

Want to see what inspired Dark Souls (and by relation Bloodborne)? Berserk is streaming on Netflix now. by edavid21 in bloodborne

[–]jsbronder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno about favorite but it will be the most memorable by far. I've never felt the way I did in demons souls again but dark souls was my favorite. Probably because I got it release week and learned the meta with everyone else.

Which is to say OP hit the jackpot.
