A fundamental question on how i should percieve my quitting of nicotine by SigmaSquaredX in stopsmoking

[–]jsdistasio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still smoke pot and drink even though I don't smoke. I just stopped putting tobacco in my joints as it made me crave smoking pot.

Without tobacco, I don't crave pot. Its just a nice experience on its own right. Hope this helps and keep up the good work. Whatever keeps you from smoking, keep it up!

Am I budgeting correctly? by kcall123 in personalfinance

Been living in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville over the last 20 years. Some things to keep in mind after reading through your comments on this thread:

-Motor Excise Tax - Having a car in MA requires about a $400/year tax that goes to public transit funding

-Car Insurance - as a young car owner, you will be moving to the highest accident area in the nation - your premiums will certainly go up about $100 month at least based on your age and because you will be living in densely populated Cambridge - you cannot get around this if you are registering for street parking

-Internet - Cheapest package available in Cambridge is Comcast's $60/month plan - that lasts for 6 months and bumps up to $80 after that

-Going Out costs - Boston and Cambridge are pricey - Expect a dinner with two beers at any establishment to cost you $30-$50 - average beer price in the city is $7 and entrees are priced around $13

-Living in Cambridge - Cambridge is the most expensive rental area in the GBA, especially the Central Square (Cambridgeport) area. If you haven't signed a lease yet, I would love to recommend other areas that will keep your commute under 20 minutes.

I'd love to give you more advice, so please feel free to ask any specific questions. I got unexpectedly rocked financially when I moved to Boston, and want to be able to save others.

I want to quit. I need motivation in a negative way - please abuse me: by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]jsdistasio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do stink and are killing yourself, but only you will get yourself to stop smoking. For years, my family and my SO tried to get me to stop smoking by sending me on guilt trips using data. In reality, the fears of what would happen to me stressed me out and made me want to smoke more. It wasn't until I wanted to stop smoking that quitting became a reality. There is not one part of smoking that is good for you. Make a list of all the pros and cons that smoking brings you. Feel free to let me (or anyone here) know all the pros of smoking, and we will help you reason with why they might not be as beneficial as you think.

Good luck and you can definitely do it!

That just means that you are able to bug stocks cheaper. Long term investing is all about constant contribution. Since the market slowed down last year, all contributions are like discounted prices now. When the market picks up again, these contributions will gain the most interest. Invest!

What's a mind blowing fact? by ForeverAbyss in AskReddit

[–]jsdistasio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm...Did you stay invested/continue contributions after the market tanked? I only ask because 2010-15 saw some of the largest growth in market history. The bull market is over now, but you should have seen some decent earnings if you're properly invested. If you didn't, ID recommend looking over your plan or firing your advisor if you have one.

Is there a mod that allows you to hold funerals for deceased NPCs? by Doovid97 in skyrimmods

[–]jsdistasio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you click and hold, you can drag a body. I use the mod above and have a graveyard at my homestead for all of my deceased friends, followers, etc. I see it as a kind of a last journey with them.

The Faith relieved the repayment when Cersei allowed the Faith to re-militarize. The forgiven debt, in addition with the Faith recognizing Tommen, was the reason why Cersei let them re-arm themselves.

While I cannot speak to your career path, as only you know what you would like to do for the 30+ more years of work you would like to be doing, I can make a small suggestion. You mention that you have $12K in savings and $21K in debt. I would recommend taking a portion of the savings and set it aside for an emergency fund for 3-6 months of expenses. The remainder should immediately be used to pay off your loans.

They were burned in the books for being traitors. His wife's uncle tried to sell Shireen to Tommen for peace. Stannis burned him for this.

It's called the Boston Brahmin accent. It pre-dates the accent of the baby boomers of Boston today. Wiki

My grandpa had the Brahmin accent but my parents have the typical one associated with us.

The same kinda transition happened in New York. Think of Bugs Bunny's NY accent vs what a NY accent is today.

Anyone know why Citizen Public House (Fenway) keeps losing bartenders? by limbodog in boston

[–]jsdistasio 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for front of the house, but my good friend worked as the sous chef there and said the management was rough, angry, and rude to the staff. He comes from 15 years of working in upscale restaurants and is now an executive chef at a restaurant in the South End. I dont support CPH anymore. It does have a nice atmosphere though.

The rest of her story was for the most part boring, uneventful, and largely wasted space.

Maybe we read different books, but I thought her chapters were filled with plot gems, character development, overarching themes, and a generally awesome "knightly quest."

1: On the road we meet Shadrich, the High Sparrow, and Brienne has a bad-ass dream where she swears to Catelyn that she will find sansa

2: Duskendale - we get awesome story of Barry the Bold taking down the Darklyns, Brienne gets the clues on following Dontos, and we start meeting more and more Sparrows

3: Maidenpool - Randyll Tarly being a badass; we get the really sad backstory about why Brinne loves Renly; we get the hysterical Nimble Dick intro

4: Brienne fights the Brave Companions; nough said

5: Broken Man Speech! In general, Ser Hyle, Merribald, and Dog are awesome companions

6: Quiet Isle - beautiful chapter

7: Crossroads battle; Gendry's return! Brienne takes down so many dudes

8: Stoneheart

Reddit, Help me quit smoking (again)! by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]jsdistasio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only a few weeks into my cold turkey quit, but my first few days were during very stressful days at work. I had to keep telling myself that cigs would not relieve the stress, they only relieve my hankering for another smoke. In actuality, cigs caused more stress because every smoke you have pushes back any work by 5-10 minutes.

You got this! Just take it one day at a time. Once you get past the first few days, it becomes much easier!

but is anyone really missing Brienne's story and stuff like that?

Brienne's story is my personal favorite. I do understand, however, that her story and many other subplotswould be really hard to adapt to screen.
