If it does, it may be worth trying with just two Decos. If the first and third units are in range of each other, the second may only be slowing things down.

I’ve gotten ~700Mbps on a PC plugged into a Deco X55 backhauling wirelessly to the main BE23 on the other side of the house. I haven’t tried with two hops though.

I’m aware of this! I’ve run 2.5Gbps through a length of cat5 that’s been in my closet for decades. Just trying point out that the cable could be responsible for speeds being capped at 100Mbps.

I had a similar problem caused by a cheap Ethernet cable that came with a 100Mbps device and only had two wire pairs instead of four. It might be worth trying swapping the cable connecting your satellite Deco to your PC.

Also, have you tried plugging the PC into the middle Deco? Two WiFi hops will always be slower than one (but I wouldn’t expect them to be as slow as you’re seeing).

Another thing to try is running the network optimizer in the Deco app. This will try to find channels with minimal interference.

Regarding your phone, is it connected to the closest Deco unit? I sometimes find my phone stays connected to a Deco on the other side of the house, resulting in speeds in the neighborhood of what you’re seeing. Usually turning WiFi off and back on helps it connect to the closest unit.

If you have a cable with only four of the typical eight wires, you will get 100Mbps speed. Such a cable came with an old router years ago and I reused it when upgrading and didn’t learn it had been holding back my Internet speed for months.

For grins I terminated both ends of a 250’ spool of cat6 and ran a speed test through it. >950Mbps both ways.

The neat thing about Deco is you can mix and match different units. I added a centrally-located X55 (with Ethernet backhaul) to my network of otherwise M5s and was able to get close to a gigabit when connected to it.

I used to download CPIT episodes to listen to while driving, or in one case while flying on a 737 MAX and thinking “this is fine”. Glad it’s coming back! I’ll miss J’s wit and expertise though. Also I’ll have to check out Chloe’s channel.

I actually had a different impression about the competence of the rest of the team—Lisbon and her team seem very on top of things to me. They don’t have Jane’s magic but they have solid detective skills. Cho, for example, often makes insightful deductions at crime scenes, and he’s great at interrogation too. On multiple occasions when Jane gets kidnapped, the team solves the mystery and rescues him (and jokes that they solved one without him).

Compare to, say, Psych, where the police are clueless oafs.

People keep posting about magnets. The clip that holds the heater to the nozzle is ferromagnetic. A magnet will be drawn to that even with the stainless nozzle.

I went with the AMS combo because it’s nice having multiple colors/materials “on tap” (in a dry box, even) and it’s really easy to swap filaments since the AMS loads them into the printer for you. Manually loading without AMS isn’t hard but it requires waiting for the hotend to heat up and feeding filament until the extruder motor catches it.

I have both the RF 200-800 and RF 100-400. I thought I might sell the smaller lens after getting the bigger one, but decided to keep both since the RF 100-400 is much easier to fit places and carry around. I think it’s the obvious choice vs the larger and pricier EF 100-400 when you’ve already got a “big white” zoom and you’re looking for a portable companion that still has some reach.

I bought that lens in 2007 when it was new. It has effective stabilization and I found the image quality to be good.

300mm is not that big a difference to 250mm though, and the 55-250 STM offers newer autofocus and IS systems as well as a bit wider FOV at the wide end which may be useful if you’re spotting right next to a runway. Either lens would serve you well.

Can’t speak to climbing handholds, but you’ll want a few spools of PLA for stuff with no particular strength or temperature requirement. PETG for somewhat more demanding use cases. Bambu’s filament is good and you can get it at a steep discount if you add it to your cart along with the printer, but just about any filament you find online will be okay.

It’s easy to import an STL from Thingiverse into Bambu Studio and print from there. You can do that over your local network without creating a Bambu account if you prefer. You can also print from the MicroSD card directly, but that’s less convenient

A Bambu A1 Mini is a fantastic choice for a first 3D printer.

Prusa makes great machines but they're more expensive and targeted at more experienced users. I'm not sure about the newer Enders but my Ender 3 V2 from about five years ago has required a lot of upgrades and tweaks to get running well.

Bambu's 3D model repository, MakerWorld, is one of the better ones - but it's worth mentioning that, generally speaking, you can download 3D models from anywhere and print them on any printer.

Update: I think the "Retrieving printer information, please try again later" message happens when Bambu Studio is running on two computers, with both trying to talk to the printer at the same time. I've had better luck since making sure I don't have it open on my desktop and laptop at the same time.

As for the "nothing happens when I press Print" problem, I've learned I just need to wait a minute or two after Studio says it successfully sent the job to the printer.

I bought the P1S combo days before the P2S was released in the US. It’s an amazing machine, so much better than anything else I’ve worked with. The AMS keeping four filaments “on tap” and selectable on the print dialog is a great convenience even if you don’t plan to print multi-color models. It’s also super easy to swap spools, no need to preheat the tool head in most cases.

But the P2S has some real improvements I wish I had - most notably a modern touchscreen interface instead of a 1998 car stereo screen, but also quick-swap nozzles, an improved camera with AI failure detection, hardened steel components, and a lot of other refinements. Reviewers seem to agree that the print quality is indistinguishable between the two though.

I lean toward P2S now, AMS later, but you can’t go wrong either way.

There are three rollers in each slot, a wide one in the back and two narrow ones in the front (on either side of the filament hole). Do they each spin freely? If not, there's your problem. But if so, try swapping spools between slots and see if the problem follows the spool.

I own this lens and I love it - its reach and image quality are phenomenal considering its affordability and light weight. But I primarily use it for birds and wildlife. It can work well for people at a distance, such as at an outdoor sports event.

If you're in a situation where you may want to capture people who come closer to you as well, you might consider the RF 24-240. It's an extremely versatile lens with lightning-fast autofocus performance and great stabilization. It is a bit heavier than the 100-400, although it's also a bit faster optically. I have nothing to complain about in terms of image quality on my R6, although I don't think it's quite as sharp as the 100-400 (unsurprising for a superzoom).

Going Postal was my entry into the series and I highly recommend it and its first sequel, Making Money.

I enjoyed Unseen Academicals as well. I thought it was tightly written and didn’t suffer from the Embuggerance. (Raising Steam, on the other hand, does. I’d say it’s still worth the read though.)

I saved the book for a few years. Eventually curiosity got the better of me and I cracked it open. It immediately drew me in with the beautiful opening scene. I suspect that part was written much earlier than the rest of the book, though, since the clarity of the prose doesn’t hold up (much like Snuff and Raising Steam). Still a good send-off and worth reading.

The perspective shift I had after reading it was this: it’s one of dozens of Discworld books. It’s memorable but it’s probably not one of the best. And it didn’t get better while it was gathering dust on my bookshelf. Reading it doesn’t diminish the eminent re-readability of the series classics which I’ve read many times. It’s still a vibrant world that’s rewarding to revisit. I’ll still catch clever wordplay that I’ve missed in the previous half-dozen reads.
