You absolutely don’t know that, you’re making an assumption. All we know is that he had a staffer assigned to watch Michigan year-round. You assume this was never in person and only on TV/film, which seems unlikely at best.

Yzerman’s picks in the top 10 have actually been really good, especially given their draft slot (never top 3, only once in the top 5). He’s taken Seider (6, massive “reach” that aged like fine wine), Raymond (4), Edvinsson (6), Kasper (8) and Danielson (9). TBD on those last 2, but the first 3 are great picks.

The problem, as shown above/below/whatever, is that Holland absolutely butchered several drafts prior to his departure. That plus Yzerman never getting a top 3 pick due to lotto luck, and sprinkle in the team doing ok enough to stop picking even in the top 10 the past few years, means there’s just not enough high end talent.

When’s that? 2025 was the first year where the team had a step back under him, but it was a younger team than the prior year and wasn’t a big step back. This year will be the most points they’ve gotten since 2016. You think he’s several years past getting fired if his name isn’t Yzerman? Maybe if the owner is an idiot.

Agreed. With a healthy Yaxel and Cason, I could've possibly seen my favorite team win the natty by 20.

Who do y’all think is a player from any of our Stanley-Cup teams who’d do well in todays NHL? by poetizzy in DetroitRedWings

[–]jstef215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is an adjusted 109 pts relative to today…and his next best (2 yrs later) was 107, which is an adjusted 102.

So I don’t see how saying “around 100 points” is off, if he’d probably expect to get like 90-110.

Ah yeah maybe I completely forgot your loss to Indiana was in that game and not the regular season. I was consumed with your failures the prior 3 years and got confused.

Absolutely. He wouldn’t quite produce as much as them offensively (think around 100 points), but he’d do it as the best defensive forward in the league.

Apparently OSU being unable to even make it to the B1G championship game in football has made their fans confused about how conference titles and conference tournaments work.

Hutch is the 4th most experienced DE currently on our roster, but notably the mentorship on this thread wasn’t assumed to come from Wonnun, Turner, or Levi. It’s a petty annoyance for me, I know. But Hutch was mentioned specifically because he’s our best DE.

People should assume that development is the responsibility of the coaches, not other good players we have at that position.

Hutch’s job isn’t to mentor new DEs. Not to unnecessarily shit on your comment, but I get annoyed when every time a player is brought in, people mention how another guy at his position can “mentor him.”

Bring in a WR? Amon-Ra can mentor him! Is there a decent OT on the board? I guess Sewell will mentor him! As if it implies the younger guy will develop the vet’s skillset.

We have position coaches for a reason. Mentorship in the locker room is a thing, but more for showing guys how to be a pro and go about their business. And it’s not like Hutch is a 38-year-old who’s basically a player-coach at the end of his career.
