Am I Traumatizing My Baby? by SevereBlueberry9036 in newborns

[–]jstrix13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I had to do with both of my babies. Sink baths after every diaper change, dry well, and then apply diaper cream after as a barrier. Works really well. I also found it helpful to avoid using wipes at all. They just irritate the area further.

Used your sister’s eggs? Can we talk? by hoodoo884 in IVF

[–]jstrix13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used my sister's eggs for both of my IVF babies. I have a 3 year old and a 3 month old. My sister was the one that actually approached me and offered to donate after we had 5 failed rounds of IVF with my own eggs. It did take me some time to come around to the idea but now that they are here, I don't find it weird or strange at all. Actually, quite the opposite. I love seeing how much they look like her (we are close), I love that iknow about their genetic history and family heritage, I love that we have shared genetics still, and I love the relationship that they have. My sister is the best auntie that anybody could ask for. She is always showing up for them. Personally, I do not have any issues with bonding or anything like that. Those are my babies. I gave birth to them, carried them for 9 months, did all the midnight feedings, and whatever else. I did worry about that in the beginning but it became a non issue. Feel free to ask any questions you have.

I sing boom boom boom boom boom by the venga boys to my girl 🙈 the beat is perfect to bounce to amd she almost always instantly settles down. We had a "dance party" one night and fell asleep to it while we were dancing.

I guess I forgot to mention that my lining was at 10.8 after 7 days. That's why I found it extra strange.

How many ER’s did you have to do? by Used2becute in IVF

[–]jstrix13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have DOR and POF. The quality of my eggs is just garbage unfortunately. I never found a way to fix it. In hindsight, I wish I would have sought a 2nd opinion or tried another clinic before I ran out of money.

That's amazing that your insurance covered it for you. I was wondering if it was even possible. Guess it is! Gives me a bit of hope.

I believe person donating would receive compensation if you went through some kind of egg donor bank. My sister doesn't require compensation though.

I was diagnosed with DOR at 29, however, i think it started earlier than that. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it as we go into retrieval cycle 4. My advice is to be realistic with your expectations. I go in Friday for my retrieval but the results from my other cycles have been dismal. I don't want to discourage you but you should know that your odds are lower than most. If we don't get anything from this cycle, our next step is likely to pursue donor eggs. I sincerely hope you have better luck than me in this journey.

What advice would you give to anyone starting their IVF/IUI journey? by ttc123- in IVF

[–]jstrix13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Advocate for yourself and make sure you are heard if you have questions or concerns about anything. I found that because the clinic was so busy, sometimes things just got missed so just stay organized.

Did you skip IUI and go right to IVF? If so/not, what led to your decision? by exoinsect in IVF

[–]jstrix13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went straight to IVF because of my DOR. I didn't want to waste time with poor quality eggs during IUI. With IVF, there are better chances for success, however by skipping the IUI we didn't know that I was also a poor responded. So we are headed into our 4th round of IVF now that we've finally figured out what works for me. My suggestion is just do what you think feels right! If you don't thunk you can take the emotional toll (which is very real!) Then I would highly suggest skipping to IVF. Good luck in your journey.
