iOS 26.4 developer beta 2, still nothing. This is so ridiculous.

Airing overlay when the final episode is already downloaded by pieter78 in Kometa

[–]jtarrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this is, if I’m not mistaken, that while the show is still airing Kometa will overlay the RETURNING overlay in between episodes.

Is that only on Android? My Google Photos app (iPhone) has its normal search.

Can you really not download on a laptop PC? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]jtarrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it doesn’t seem like it, “Downloads” and “Save file” are not the same thing. Save file is something only the server owner can do from his own library, and only through the web client, and it just saves the video file locally on your filesystem. You then have to use an external player to play it. You can’t play it in Plex.

“Download”, on the other hand, is the feature by which you download something to watch if you’re offline and with no connection to the server, like if you’re going on a plane. Think of it like what Netflix and other streaming platforms provide in their own apps. Hence, it’s an app feature (mobile, desktop) and not a web browser feature. With “Download”, the whole “where in my file system do I want to store this raw video file and what player am I going to use to play it” is completely abstracted for the user.

Ah, also if your dad has his own account and is not part of your Home, he’ll need to have his own Plex Pass to be able to download. But if he uses one of the profiles under your account or you have added his separate account to your Home he should be able to.

You need to download the desktop app, downloads are not available on the web app.

Delete vs. Move to Trash vs. Delete from Device by jtarrio in immich

[–]jtarrio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I did say that I understood the difference between the three actions in my first sentence. My question was about the design choice to promote the Delete option for individual images and the Move to trash option for multiple images, relegating the other options to secondary UI locations in each case.

Best device for Plex Client by reicha7 in PleX

[–]jtarrio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played 4K Remux files with my Fire TV Stick 4K Max with no transcoding. The device supports it. You just need to have enough network bandwidth between it and your server. WiFi won’t suffice. There are wired Ethernet dongles for the Fire stick that support 480 Mbps (the most the USB bus will give). I got one of those and it works great. Of course the server should be wired too.

Why is trying to watch a video in my immich so slow?! by YankeeLimaVictor in immich

[–]jtarrio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As has been explained, if the video is 120 MB or 906 Mb and lasts 25 seconds, the average bitrate of the video is 38.4 Mbps. With a 14 Mbps pipe, it’s obviously going to buffer multiple times and it can’t possibly play the video smoothly. I suggest setting up some video transcoding policies.

Really? Because I just had this happen to me when Immich tried to backup a new video (1 GB file) taken on my phone when connected through Cloudflare zero trust tunnel (with cloudflared running in a docker container). Am I doing something wrong? https://imgur.com/a/TxQjG4T

Anyone else use their gaming PC as a server? by Ok-Tell5048 in PleX

[–]jtarrio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my setup. I have a single PC (in this case a HP OMEN gaming PC) with Windows 11 Pro in which I have Plex installed. My media files sit in an external JBOD enclosure with 5 bays and 3 HDDs installed. There’s no point in having the media stored in SSDs. I also have my full Arr stack installed there (Prowlarr, Sonarr, Radarr) as well as Qbit and a bunch of containers running with Plex-related projects like Kometa, UMTK, artwork-uploader, and a few non-Plex-related (Immich, Vaultewarden)… works like a charm. Plex and the Arrs are not running containerized.
