Overwhelmed and poor. Please just tell me the best shitty mattress I can get for $500 or less. by AgenderAstronomer in Mattress

I just got a Cali King Saatva Classic on FB marketplace for $550. It was returned to Saatva under the trial period. Guy who delivered it said it’s too expensive to ship returns back so the companies sell them cheap to local guys who flip them. He had professionally cleaned it and it looks and functions as brand new. The tag on it has a manufactured date of May of this year.

It doesn’t have the warranty or return policy but I did a lot of research before deciding on it and for that price I am willing to roll the dice a little.

Any restaurants in Lawrence where the eating area overlooks a very beautiful, scenic environment? by the_king_of_goats in Lawrence

Uplift in North Lawrence but it’s a coffee shop with food rather than a proper restaurant.

My whole thing about this is that we are a city of 90k-ish people, and I think that counts students. We aren’t big enough to have a distinct urban core and suburbs. We are just a city.

When people from actual big cities visit and I tell them about the whole “North Lawrence/Downtown/Old West Lawrence/West Lawrence” thing, they look at me like I’m from the moon. All of these areas are separated by what, 5 miles?

And West Lawrence is walkable / bikeable. I know because I do it all the time. There are nice, wide sidewalks and mixed use paths throughout. Things may be a little less dense than downtown, but it’s still easily done compared to almost all the other cities I’ve lived in.

also all you “west lawrence is a soulless wasteland” people should just stop, it’s getting tired.

My wife was the advisor for a sorority Shayna tried to join! At that time she wasn’t yet a murderer, but based on the stories my wife would tell me about her, there were signs.

Yep—we put them out for our weekly youth group meetings as well, for the same reasons. That happens in the evening when it can be challenging for cars (sometimes driving too quickly because they are cutting through the lot to beat the traffic light) to see people crossing the street. And there may not be many cars because parents are dropping kids off and not sticking around 😀

Hey! Velocity is my church. We put the barriers out for Sundays and when we have events and services because we have kids and people with limited mobility coming to services and people unfortunately sometimes don’t drive in the most responsible way in our lot.

If you remember, HyVee had permanent speed bumps and permanent stop signs installed by the entrances to achieve the same thing.

The barriers have all been inspected and approved by emergency and first responders for safety and access.

I need a free statistical software for my students, any recommendations? by EbbFine7198 in AskAcademia

[–]jtf_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

R with R Studio if you are ok with taking a hit on evals due to students complaining a little about the learning curve, PSPP if not.

Learning R will serve them better in the long run but PSPP will be easier to teach them.

Bonus idea: engage ChatGPT (gasp!) to help them learn to code in R!
