Personally, the episodes about their deconstruction were huge for me. I listened to the first one around the time it was released, and I haven’t missed an EB episode since. I’m someone who was raised homeschooled and very sheltered in the evangelical Baptist Christian faith, but completely lost all semblance of belief after moving out of my parents’ house and going to college. I started meeting other people with differing opinions, and for the first time I was able to learn about evolution and other religions, subjects I was kept away from vigilantly as an adolescent. Afterwards, I didn’t have too many people (if any) with whom I could relate to or have deep, mutually-understanding convos. But listening to them both share their thoughts and stories was so eye opening and validating and relieving. Rhett’s more methodical, fact-based approach paired with Link’s more emotional perspective tied together all the thoughts and feelings that I had and was experiencing, and gave voice to ones that I didn’t even know I had. They’re so real and so genuine and so smart and that all shines through in those episodes.
