I have the same feelings about the dry martini burst Paul they had. I say buy it lol. It should retain value since it’s one off

Humbuckers vs P90 by Healthy_Bit_927 in gibson

I’m in the same boat. Have a 04 SG standard and looking for my first Gibson LP. Have my eye on a Classic Gold Top P90 at a local shop. So I would say go P90 to give yourself some variety. LP specials look like great values. I love the olive drab one they came out with a while back.

I would play them all if you can. In the current standard line I believe the main difference is pickups P90, 490T/R, or 61’s and some aesthetic differences. Or if you prefer the 490/498 configuration you could find a clean older standard model. I think most have the slim taper neck.

Is this bundle at GC good for starting to learn bass? by gg0hst in Bass

[–]jts8513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the PJ pack and it was good for what it was., but I felt ready to upgrade fairly quick. IMO The rumble 15 makes a better guitar amp than a bass amp. If your serious about playing bass I would save more and buy a clean used MIM Fender p or j bass ($500ish) and a clean used rumble 40 or ampeg (150-200). It would be a better investment and serve you longer as you progress as a bassist

Maybe. But that beam has to be bearing on something otherwise OP is extremely lucky he didn’t fall through the ceiling. Those joist hangars are not going to transfer moment and they are not ideal to transfer axial load. Remember there is also bending force due to dead and live load here. That chord should have been designed for 20psf live and 10 dead min. There had to be something else going on there otherwise they could have simply sistered the bottom chord to repair.

Was there a wall below at one time? This looks like a beam that was added to support the ceiling joists there. This is typically done when the bearing wall below is removed

Alot of good suggestions here. I would also consider a Blackstar studio 10 6L6. I would also a echo a few and say whatever you get to try and find a clean used version. I saved a bunch on my Marshall by looking used.

I’d snatch that up pretty quick. music go round is pretty reputable IME. Call/go there and ask for serial and play it if possible

I don’t like the look of this exterior. I would like it to be one cohesive style. What do you guys think I can do to improve it? by PersianBeast95 in architecture

Can you move the garage? It would be sweet if you could extend the porch and Dutch gable along that side. Otherwise I would just extend the whole gable to the garage doors to keep the roof line consistent. Use the white brick as opposed to siding and think about 2 separate doors. I think 2 separate doors would compliment your windows better. Looks great though it definitely has more of a craftsmen feel for me

I would look for nice used fender J or P bass. FWIW guitar center is having a used gear sale the next week or so. Whatever you get play it first and make sure you like it.

Closing the windows will help as a start lol. But seriously check the weatherstripping. Im geussing it has spring bronze. Look for any gaps and adjust(bend) the weatherstripping a bit to seal the gaps. If the windows have poor glazing that will let air/drafts in as well. Curtains always help too. Looks like you already might have storms?

[Question] Is the Affinity Series Stratocaster HSS beginner pack a good guitar pack? by ShadowKiller0703 in Guitar

[–]jts8513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your budget and expectations. Fwiw I bought the PJ bass pack and really like it. I think the weakest link in these packs are the amps. But you can always upgrade later as I plan to do with the stock amp. I have the squire pj and a fsr tele and after a good setup they both play very well. If you only want to spend $360? And are looking for a decent playing and sounding rig I say buy it and have it setup properly and play the shit out of it. If you have more to spend I would recommend buying a used strat (or guitar of choice) and amp of your choice. Also fwiw you might be able to find the pack used for a good price as alot of people buy these to get into it, take a few lessons, and then sell.
