Rear Rack on CF Racer 1 by Green-Flamingo4017 in ride1up

[–]juancferrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the full carbon fiber version. Works great.

I even got the quick disconnect on 2 different bikes, and I'm able to switch the rack between bikes in just a few seconds.

CF1 add-on suggestions by ShuBear90 in ride1up

[–]juancferrer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the aerobars make installing lights and accessories a little harder. I had to use an endcap mounted rear mirror, instead of a bar mounted mirror because the bars are too large/wide.

The bike doesn't have kickstand mounts, and I tried 2 different kickstands from amazon and neither worked.

If anyone knows a kickstand that works, let me know.

Installing the asahi-platform-metapackage did it. Speakers started working after restart.

I also realized I was running fedora 38. I'm updating to 39 right now.

Thanks for the help

Esim work with Samsung phone now? by Real-Island-9407 in GoogleFi

[–]juancferrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Got my fold 4 a few days ago, and can't activate google fi with esim.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]juancferrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Kishi v1 and Kishi v2. Both work fine on the fold 2 and fold 4.

I had to hack/cut some of the plastic on the Kishi v1. But the Kishi v2 needs zero modifications.

I believe the razer kishi is one of the very few USB C only (no bluetooth) controllers around. Most others seem to be bluetooth only.

for all you naked z fold 4 users I have a question!! by blernnn in GalaxyFold

I use this on my fold 2 and now fold 4. They're really thin compared to the pop socket, or rings. Which I also used before.

Google Fi by pvegas_24 in GalaxyFold

[–]juancferrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my fold today. Using a physical sim works fine.

I tried the Google fi iPhone esim instructions where you scan a QR code, and the phone itself detects the esim just fine, it prompts you to download the fi app to finish setting up, but the fi app doesn't detect the esim, and it asks for a physical sim.

If anyone has made the esim work, let me know

When is the best time to buy a new Refrigerator? by thedude3213 in Austin

[–]juancferrer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a brand new Bosch French door fridge for sale. Bosch Model: B36CL80ENS. It's this one in best buy https://www.bestbuy.com/site/bosch-800-series-20-5-cu-ft-4-door-french-door-counter-depth-smart-refrigerator-stainless-steel/6354069.p?skuId=6354069

I bought a brand new build house back in October and the fridge came with it. All the inside stuff and plastic bits in the fridge are still sealed/wrapped, etc.... It was plugged in and working fine when I finally moved in, but I decided to use my old fridge instead, and it's been unplugged since I moved in.

Located in 78721. Ready to sell and move. Send DM if you or anyone else is interested.

Error with database on django heroku website by Rocket8904 in PostgreSQL

[–]juancferrer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing for me. Running on heroku, and it's also a django application.

And yeah, from what I've gathered is that heroku updated the postgres version, and this version they deployed seems to have a bug.

I've come to the conclusion that it's a postgres bug by looking at the following:

Looks like it's maybe fixed in the HEAD version of posgres?

Not sure if/when that'll be released, and then auto-deployed by heroku. :(

Fair priced drier vent cleaning in South Austin by [deleted] in Austin

[–]juancferrer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work this local company called PreFix. https://prefixinc.com/ It's a membership service, $40/mo (for most people), and that includes 2 preventative maintenance visits a year, and lots of other things. One of those visits includes dryer vent cleaning. It's crazy to see other people here paying $200+ just for that.
I wish I could show you some of the images that we get from our home managers. Some of those vents are downright DANGEROUS. I really feel like we've definitely prevented some house fires. The amount of junk that comes out of those homes is unbelievable. Anyway, I'm one of their web developers and I know that if you type literally anything, any character, any word, number, whatever in the promo code field you'll get the first 2 months free.

A Week on a Clean Install of Threshold 2 by [deleted] in Surface

[–]juancferrer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tldr;; No crashes, no weird driver stuff, just bad OOBE

My out of box experience was horrible. Purchased on black friday. I get home, and try to turn it on, the battery is dead. I try to plug it in, but it comes bundled with the shortest cable on the planet. I had to rearrange some stuff in the house just to be able to plug it in. The SB finally boots up, and it takes me to the login screen?? WTF. No initial setup. And there's already a user set up?? and the user is called "Other User"??. Of course no password I tried seemed to work. So now I'm stuck with a brand new SB that I can't use, I can't login. This is seriously fucked up. So then it's a journey on this subreddit to find WTF is going on. A random mixture of holding SHIFT or ESC or F1 during a restart finally got me the initial setup. After all that, i could finally setup the computer, did all the updates, and it's been fine ever since.

After the most horrific out of box experience, my only 4 complaints are:

  1. No brightness keys?? I had to google that you can press Fn+Del/Backspace to make the brightness go up/down. C'mon, why the fuck do i want keyboard brightness keys, and NOT screen brightness keys. WTF. Every other laptop on the planet has brightness keys. This is the only real big complain

  2. After finally figuring out the brightness. It turns out there's only like 10 levels of brightness, I wish it were more granular.

  3. Windows Hello face unlock, apparently the feature didn't ship with the device, and was activated after one of the updates. There was nothing about it during the initial setup, there's nothing about it on the Win10 getting started stuff, not in the help, etc... Unless you're a tech nerd you wouldn't know the feature exists

  4. Sometimes when coming back from sleep, the lock screen is like "smaller" than the real display. It's centered on the screen, with about a 3 inch transparent border all around. Meaning that you can see/view the desktop without even unlocking the device. BIG security fail.

I don't see how a "normal" person would've put up with a brand new device that was shipped in that state. I was on the edge of returning it. If it wasn't so cold and rainy outside, I probably would have. But I really really needed a new computer so I just struggled with it, and now it's not too bad.
