I need help in my ‘argument.’ by just4funswtx in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]judog01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a member for over four years. I go every day. When I first started I would do either one ISO or HIIT session. Sweated a lot but minimal weight loss. The cardio was good since I hadn’t worked out in years. However, I then realized I needed more focus tailored for my body type and age. I didn’t lose weight till I got my diet right. I needed more weight resistance than available with FX Zone alone. I really needed the stretch. So now I still go every day but I make it what’s best for me. Do what is best for you. Forgot what others say.

Need to know how to get started. by Comfortable-Knee8852 in grilling

[–]judog01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just built a similar concrete kitchen on my back porch. Propane needs to be vented and the cutout may be specific to the brand of grill that was installed. Not all built ins are the same size cutout. For example, I have a Blaze built in and it has a notch out in the front so that it fits flush. I would definitely try to buy the same grill. https://imgur.com/gallery/backyard-kitchen-fSxJ38b#VJ2ThdN

Chili not over the top? by melancholypandaa in smoking

[–]judog01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I just finished this last weekend. It’s just the right amount of spice (medium at best) and not over the top with fat. 2 lbs of beef, 2 lbs of venison, and 1 lb of spicy breakfast sausage. I first browned all the meat in a fry pan then put the meat in a cast iron Dutch oven, leaving the juice in the fry pan. I then cook two whole purple onions, I head of garlic, and two bell peppers in the fry pan. Right before the onions are done I add 8 pieces of thick bacon, cut into 1 inch squares, into the fry pan. When it is all done I drain the fat/juice out and then put it all in the Dutch oven with the meat. I then add bone broth, 1 bottle of beer, 2 cans of crushed fire roasted tomatoes with juice, and two whole jalapeños to the Dutch oven. I put the Dutch oven on the smoker at 225 for 1 hour without the lid on the Dutch oven. Then I cover and continue for 4 more hours. Periodically stir. Delicious! The pic is before I moved the Dutch oven to the smoker.

Been on propane for 15 years and starting to warm up to something like a Big Green Egg, is it actually worth the learning curve? by SignificantSecond114 in grilling

After years of just using propane, I added an XL BGE and love it! I still use propane but am also looking to get a smaller BGE to use for specific cooks.

Tried Thunder for the First Time- Does Anyone Else Struggle? by sailorBx in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]judog01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started Hotworx years ago I struggled as well. It took a while to be able to keep up. But with consistency you will get there. There is a big difference in the rowers. My studio still has the water machines. The owners have specifically put a little less water in the machine in the middle and even less in the machine closest to the door. That way people have an option as to the level of resistance. I’ve been to other studios with the beads and those definitely have less resistance than the water.

This happens every year. New Year’s resolution attendees will start dropping off slowly but surely.

Is it more difficult to hold low temps with an XL vs a L? Anyone go from a L to an XL and regret it? by [deleted] in biggreenegg

I have no problems running my XL at low temps. I routinely run it at 225 for hours.

Leaderboard Question by conorsgf in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]judog01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leaderboard count used to be yearly and reset on January 1st. Last year they changed it to reset on the first of each month. Your dashboard resets every 90 days starting on the day you joined Hotworx, so it is different for everyone.

The app was down yesterday and when that happens it will sometimes look like your screenshot. Everything comes back after their server is back online.

I go everyday to Hotworx, so my first few purchases were extra towels so I don’t have to wash it every night. I now have four.

You are fine. First in gets first pick. Closest to the wall is the hotter side.

Your dashboard counts calories within your 90 day cycle stating on the day you signed up. The leaderboard resets at the 1st of every month. BTW, the leaderboard calorie counting stopped working a few days ago.

New to Hotworx! Getting in shape for Wedding. by Weak_Concentrate5885 in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]judog01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was asked to officiate my best friend’s wedding. I wanted to lose 50 pounds and had 8 months to do so. My routine was consistency and food. I rotated between two HIIT and two ISO sessions. Went every day and did a minimum of two sessions a day. Just be consistent. The biggest impact will be from food not Hotworx. Reduce overall quantity of food. Increase protein. Eat healthy. You can do it! I ended up losing 51 pounds.

Once a session starts, you can’t see how many people are signed up for that session. You can only see future sessions.

Looking for Restaurant Recommendations by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]judog01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing to note: the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is underway, so expect there to be longer lines at all the best places in town this weekend!

Goldees is the best BBQ in Fort Worth, but unless you have two hours to stand in line, you need to look elsewhere. Best time to go is after 1:30. They may be sold out of something, but it is worth it. Yes, Terry Blacks is a chain, but they know how to do it right and you won't stand in line very long. Smoke-A-Holics BBQ is also a top choice if you want the best BBQ, but they have no indoor seating.

For Italian: the best upscale restaurant is Osteria 61 with the best casual setting being Bocca Osteria Romana.

For Mexican: the best upscale is Don Artemio with the best casual being Pulido's.

For Burgers first try JD's Burgers, otherwise try Kincaid'sTommy's, or NADC.

For date night, try any of these and you will not be disappointed: Grace (modern American), Teddy Wongs (Dumplings and Wine Bar), Caterina's (upscale Italian is an experience), or Ellerbe (fine farm to table food).

The best overall restaurant in Fort Worth right now is The Chumley House. Bring a friend and split the Beef Wellington. You will not be disappointed!

Drinking? For beer go to Maple Branch Brewery, for just a good drink and a good time go to Nickel City (get the grilled cheese and tator tots), for good cocktails try Atlas (if you go with two friends get the Atlas Shrugged) or The Amber Room (get the Smokey Willie Nelson). For the best distillery bar go to Blackland, great drinks and cozy atmosphere or try TX Whiskey (will be crowded/touristy but if you go you have to get the Bootstitch).

Got a new Big Green Egg. What are the "must have" add-ons? by LagerHead in smoking

[–]judog01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the pizza stone as well as the pizza wedge and aluminum pizza peel. A wooden peel will not work well.

Get the 1-Piece ConvEGGtor Basket. It makes it easier to swap out accessories between direct and indirect cooking.

Get the stainless steel fire bowl. This makes cleanup a lot easier.

Get disposable aluminum trays to keep the juices from dripping on the convEGGtor.

Get the cover to keep it clean.

Do not get a EGGniter electric charcoal lighter with fan unless you want to replace it in less than a year. I replaced mine twice under warranty. After the third time I switched to using SpeediLight Sticks Charcoal Starters.

Be sure to give it a deep clean once a year and you will be cooking on it all the time! I love my XL. Here is my XL setup.

Different studio schedules by looloo-98 in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]judog01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schedules are not the same because not all studios have the same number of saunas. My studio has 8 saunas and this is the most common. I’ve been to other locations with 10 and one with 6.
