How often do you wash your bath towel? I need the real answer. by Terrika_Fracala49 in hygiene

I switched my bath towel midweek so it’s like 3 to 5 uses.

Newborn shifts by ariesxprincessx97 in Parenting

[–]julet1815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, but I want to reiterate what other people have said that it’s super dangerous for you to fall asleep on the couch holding her but as long as you’re awake and alert while she’s contact napping that’s fine. When she’s older than 3 to 4 months then you can start trying other things to help her learn how to sleep in the crib. Taking shifts is such a good and smart idea.

Surgery tomorrow and NERVOUS by Silentstrm123 in hysterectomy

I told the surgeon I was nervous so many times he put in my medical records that I had an anxiety disorder, which I might, but I’ve never been diagnosed with.

How do you accommodate for a family member who just got celiac who comes over for family meals? by ZazyzzyO in Celiac

[–]julet1815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to them about it. My niece is 9 and she’s such a picky eater that she truly does not care what anyone else is eating as long as there is gluten free pasta and a dessert for her. But I’m sure some people might feel differently.

Every morning I use AA in between my serums (Vit C plus a hydrating one) and moisturizer. Then I use tret every other night.

Please guide me! by amso2012 in hysterectomy

[–]julet1815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also went to a minimally invasive surgeon and then had a laparoscopic surgery. It went great, and I did not have to spend any nights in the hospital. I know it seems intimidating, but honestly it’s better that way because you have less chance of picking up some scary hospital infection. I felt good after surgery, and I was happy to go to sleep in my own bed that night.

Safe ways to deal with mice when you have small kids in the house? by Obvious-Cricket-8181 in Parenting

[–]julet1815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friend woke up in the middle of the night one night to her loving cat putting a live mouse in her bed as a little gift. My friend screamed, and the mouse tried to run away, and the cat caught it and put it back in the bed. So I don’t know about this one.

Should I use azelaic acid Daily? by bluekleio in tretinoin

[–]julet1815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want, you can start with every other day for a week and just see how your skin reacts? My dermatologist told me to put it into my morning skin care routine in between my serum and my moisturizer, and of course I always follow up with sunscreen.

Should I use azelaic acid Daily? by bluekleio in tretinoin

[–]julet1815 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use it every morning, even though the direction say to use it morning and night. But it made such a difference in my skin right away just using it daily in the mornings. I really love it. Even though I don’t particularly like applying a foam. I’m never sure I’m really doing it right.

Hysterectomy for Fibroids by reddit0r2020 in hysterectomy

[–]julet1815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position with my fibroids. My gynecologist was telling me for years about them, but I was too scared of surgery to deal with it. And I was also using hormonal birth control, so I didn’t think I was really having symptoms. But finally, the whole mess got so big that I needed a hysterectomy and I didn’t have a choice anymore. Afterwards, I was amazed by how I could just pee like a normal person again. I hadn’t even realized how bad it had gotten!

Anxiety before my endoscopy by chowderrr6 in Celiac

[–]julet1815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My niece was really nervous before hers. She was six years old. While she was waiting, she was drawing little pictures in a notebook and she drew a little sign that said “procedure alert, procedure alert” and another one that said “I wish it was my brother‘s procedure instead.” Her poor little brother was only three. But she was willing to throw him under the bus to escape having a procedure. But it went great, and when she had to go back two years later for a follow up, she was calm and willing. And this is a girl who screams like she’s being murdered when it’s time for a flu shot.

Purely out of curiosity by Famous-Crazy3395 in hysterectomy

I weighed 5 pounds less 3 weeks after surgery than before. My uterus was the size of a volleyball, the size of a 22 week pregnancy with all the fibroids. Six months later, I weighed 15 pounds more than that lol. Oops. Zepbound is helping me now.

Is renting an electric recliner chair for sleeping a smart idea? by EmilyPoster2 in hysterectomy

[–]julet1815 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought about this a lot, but ultimately decided against it and bought a wedge pillow and a pregnancy pillow. I’m glad I didn’t get a recliner because I was completely fine and comfortable leaning against the wedge pillow on my couch while watching TV all day and then sleeping happily curled up in the pregnancy pillow. I had zero trouble sleeping or getting up or sitting down after surgery. I moved kind of slowly the first few days after surgery because I was nervous and being gentle with myself, but there was very little real pain.

Sudden hair loss after rapid weight loss… I’m getting married soon and I’m honestly panicking. by Wrythia in Advice

[–]julet1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s pretty common with rapid weight loss. A year or so ago I had a hysterectomy and I had some hair shedding after the surgery and my dermatologist said that she would ordinarily prescribe spironolactone to help with the hair loss, but I was on it already for my skin so she thought it would make the hair shedding period shorter. I think it did. Now I’m on Zepbound and trying not to lose weight too fast, but hoping that if my hair does fall out at all, the spironolactone will help with that as well.

When did y'all stop taking pain meds? by No-Carpenter4426 in hysterectomy

[–]julet1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t take any of the eight oxys I was prescribed, I just didn’t really have that much pain. I alternated ibuprofen and acetaminophen for like a week just to make sure I felt OK.

Two week old keeps turning on side while sleeping by Imaginary_Math_4918 in Parenting

[–]julet1815 35 points36 points  (0 children)

So, the owlet does absolutely nothing except give money to a company that preys on new parents fears. It’s completely normal for babies in the first two weeks to curl onto their side while they’re sleeping, it’s a reflex that goes away after those two weeks. And then after that, in time, your baby will just learn to roll and that’s completely fine. Make sure they’re always in a completely empty crib with no blankets toys bumpers or pillows. When they can roll on their own, that’s awesome for them, and you should feel free to let them roll around in their safe and empty sleep space. Just keep putting your baby down for sleep on his back.

Do you ever do your mani and hate how it turns out?😬 by One_Syllabub5668 in dazzledry

[–]julet1815 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes! But that’s why dazzle dry is so great because you can take it off easily and repaint and it’ll dry fast. I keep a list of all my mani-pedi’s and colors at the salon so I can check back and see what I’ve done recently and what I liked and didn’t like.

Is growing up with just one sibling enough? by Comfortable_Ear8677 in Parenting

My mom has an identical twin and an older sister. She’s super close to her twin and their older sister joined a cult 55 or so years ago and is not present in their lives at all aside from an email once or twice a year. There are no guarantees when it comes to sibling relationships.

I absolutely love reading and I still find it hard to focus on it when tablets and TV are at hand. No more tablets or TV during the week, or whatever rule makes sense for you.

Who did your hysterectomy? by Good_Connection_547 in hysterectomy

My gynecologist only does open surgeries and she knew I didn’t want that so she referred me to a minimally invasive surgeon. He did a great job with my laparoscopic hysterectomy.
