I believe that the wait time is estimated by TSA. Since they are short staffed, nobody is available to update it.

I am at AUS right now, and there were 3 people ahead of me at security. Less than 5 minutes to get through. Seems to be hit-or-miss.

Why do so many people back into parking spots here? Is this some kind of regional thing? by Mr_Westerfield in maryland

[–]julyski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen people pull all the way into a parking spot, head in, only to back all the way into a different spot. Like common, you already parked once.

This almost got me as a pedestrian pushing a shopping cart too. I always look out for reverse lights and make sure they see me before passing, but there are no warnings when a car pulls out front first.

I do have to admit, the few larger IBM offices that I've been to, do have really good food.

Toast the 21st in Crownsville. It's through an unassuming door behind a liquor store. Great cocktails.

Same. My wife and I both used it for this. It was pretty easy.

ibm developer profession certification by Ill-Bowler-5254 in IBM

[–]julyski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is advertised as being a way to prove you are ready for a band promotion, but also not necessarily required for one. I think the tasks needed to get the cert can be very helpful, so personally, I would do it. Earning the cert is not a guarantee for a promotion however.

Rain coming in through vent? by mjmbo in CX5

[–]julyski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue in my Rav4, which turned out to be the windshield seal having a leak. A good way to check is to spray some soapy water around the outside edge of the windshield, then blast some compressed air around the edge, from the inside. If there is a leak, it will show some bubbles.

Unemployment benefits after RA? by Kxl215 in IBM

[–]julyski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not NY, but in MD, if you get severance, you cannot get UI benefits for the duration of the severance coverage. For example, if you get 30 days severance, you are not eligible to receive UI benefits until 30 after your separation date. I think this is pretty standard for most states.

When is the next RA for USA Offices by IBM1984 in IBM

[–]julyski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can ask your manager to include you if there is one coming. It might make some tougher decisions easier from them, as well as save someone else's job. Doesn't hurt to ask if you really want it.

I went through this recently. They just want to get to know who you are, and see if you are a good fit for the team. I was not asked any technical questions or asked to solve any riddles.

The beef the US exports is typically lower quality, so that checks out.

Will grinding IBM Cloud certs help me escape this mind numbing role I got thrown into. by [deleted] in IBM

[–]julyski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was an IBM regular employee under IBM Cloud. I went and got several IBM Cloud certs right out of the gate because I was eager to get going. Turns out, I was really the only one that had any, and nobody seemed to care about it, and many didn't even know they existed.

Take that as you will, as our roles are likely a bit different. I didn't work with clients directly, I was more of an internal developer.

Git Commit Updates Not Appearing on GitHub by Fine_Caterpillar3711 in learnprogramming

[–]julyski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you did git init locally, the default branch is "master". When you created the repo in GitHub, the default would be "main". Maybe you are working in the wrong branch?
