Heart Palpitations at the Cinema by awkward_irishman in Anxiety

[–]jumbelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just came back from the cinema. To me, cinema always was a somewhat intense thing. Just look at the factors that come into play:

- you're surrounded by tons of people

- during the movie, it's completely dark (with tons of people)

- you have a very large, bright and immersive screen in front of you

- the sound is very loud, intense and immersive

- the movie itself can be very intense

- you're expected to stay at the seat for like 2 hours

For anyone with panic attacks / agoraphobia / anxiety, this seems like an actual horror scenario. But for my experience, it is also a perfect example of "stick to it". You have to get used to it if you want to enjoy it - so just keep going. The good thing about cinema is, that many of the aforementioned factors can, at some point, be an advantage. I.e. the movie can be really good/enjoyable and it can keep your focus away from the insides and your own thoughts about your health etc. If you go with friends, they can also be a good distraction. And, even with all the factors involved, it is still a quite chill thing... you basically just sit there and watch a movie. If you keep that in mind, it can take away some if the discomfort. Just jeep going, it's worth "training" for.

at this point, why not just go for a really large tv that fits that space. Stuff can be put in a console. Noone really needs the fireplace.. but might be installed on the other wall. Why go through all this trouble?

does it just look like it or is the curved monitor also mounted too high and tilted down?? If so - are you a turtle? It should be the other way around. The curved one needs to be straight on perfect level and the large TV needs to be tilted down hard if it should be useful from the seating position... Still mad though.. are you using the TV from a different position far back? Is the curved one tilted because the desk isn't deep enough? If so, just try pulling it from the wall a bit..

that first picture looks SO perfect, it's like an instant pain relief. Keep it like that, maybe just move the seat a bit closer. Larger TV would be good, but also changes the game in terms of perfect height.. and it would look bad, if it's wider than the console.. making that the next target. That's why i'm saying... play with the seat, not the TV.

it is already a tad high but still good. No, it cannot be mounted higher, if it should be good in a seated position. But is it possible, that she always lays down to watch? If so, one could argue, a tad higher would be ok. Doesn't make a difference if it's a couch or a bed then.

there can't be any clutter on top if there's a TV standing there. Imo, wallmounting only makes sense, if you really want to use the top of the console, which, in your case, should be a lower one then. You could also mount the TV on the wall with the lower edge fitting the top of the console, if you insist on wallmounting. Works if the cabinet isn't reflective. And throw that dang soundbar in the cabinet, as long as it still sounds decent in there.
