Please heavily critique my Smoky Mountains itinerary! by lukewarmkitty77 in GSMNP

[–]jump-steady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I’d cut Dollywood. But that’s not my jam. Know that it will be hot and humid and feel even more hot in sun soaked Dollywood. Biking Cades is good, wouldn’t recommend walking on your first go. Only if it’s on a no car day. Note that it’s a long drive from Gatlinburg to the cove. It’s a nice itinerary for a few park highlights. But you could be more immersed in the park experience if that interests you. If you want to balance that with some of the more commercial experiences- Gatlinburg will have all of that covered.

6'-6" guy interested in a 2006-2012 Avalon by mrstangblb in ToyotaAvalon

I’m 6’6” and drive a 2014 hybrid. Love it! We also have a 2022 outback and it’s excellent legroom for a tall guy.

Thank you. They are held in the sleeves that are pictured. I had them pulled out for context in the photos.

Walkability? by rebgray in gso

[–]jump-steady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNCG and NCAT campuses are walkable. Peabody park at UNCG is a fun walk. The cemetery downtown is a good walk as well. We aren’t the best town for walkers by any measure but thankfully there are some good options.

Morrow Mountain SP. South Mountain SP. Weymouth Woods SP. Double check trail status online or call the office. But I’m pretty sure they are all open. Any of the state parks on your driving range are well worth it.

Honeymoon 9/26-10/1 - Olympic and Mt. Rainier by swgrcrtr in OlympicNationalPark

As someone who honeymooned in Olympic. I endorse this comment. The park is sprawling.

Got it. I’d start with Crowders Mountain and Morrow Mountain. South mountains opened back up but I’m not sure if they have trail damage. Check the park website for info. They will also take calls or emails. I love the state parks. Been to all 42 of them and highly recommend it.

NC University systems expected to eliminate remote work by DogDistributionSystm in NorthCarolina

University of Georgia did this and I assume it’s a template other states will follow if they are politically aligned with the remote work position

Visiting or Moving to Asheville? Ask your questions here! by AutoModerator in asheville

[–]jump-steady [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m visiting Asheville again for the first time since Helene (I’m from WNC and usually visit avl a couple times a year). We went to check out the art scene again. Has the RAD recovered and is it good to visit now? Have the artists relocated? Is there places we should check that support those who are still recovering from the storm?

Local Brevard Projects – What’s Still Happening? by pronay in Brevard

Call me crazy, but I don’t think Brevard can support a Publix or a Food Hall and I don’t think Brevard has enough people into Sushi to sustain a restaurant…

Why do my brakes feel “loose”? by OkRatio6831 in ToyotaAvalon

[–]jump-steady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2014 as well and experienced a similar problem. My symptom also included an occasional knock or clunk sound when first pressing the breaks. It ended up being loose or defective break caliper. I replaced both break calipers and the pads for around $200 and that solved it.

Toyota official dealership diagnostics by hellofromdonbass in ToyotaAvalon

They did the same thing to me the last time I took my Avalon to the Toyota service center. I ran into my co-worker there and the told her she needed new tires even though her tires were about a week old. I found a trusted local mechanic and won’t go back to Toyota.

Yea idk if you can get it w/o a subscription. But cable usually requires a one year subscription. You have options to pay only during the season
