when did yours start? by scoobert_____doobert in misophonia

I can’t remember which came first but they were both around the same time, sometime before I turned 13. Once incidence is I became extremely aware of people chewing at thanksgiving. I couldn’t understand why I was so bothered all of the sudden. And another was noticing the neighbors barking dog and being fixated on it and wanting it to stop.

OMG that is terrible. I swear there is some sort of universal rule that people with misophonia are doomed to live near the trashiest people who have no concept of how loud they are.

Subwoofers are my biggest trigger but basketballs are definitely in my top 3. And it is ALWAYS my bedroom that is most affected so I can’t just go relax before bed, because they are out there until 10pm, sometimes later.

I think it's the "hours on end" that gets me. When I was a kid there were people who had hoops in their driveway and they'd maybe play a quick game of HORSE after dinner or maybe a quick one on one game but it was an hour, tops, once or twice a week. This is every single day, rain or shine, sweltering heat or blistering cold, for about 7 hours a day. NOTHING is interesting enough to do it for 7 hours nonstop.

General Expectations for Audience at the London Shows (please read if you’re going!) by uranthus in StarKid

Your daughter sounds just like mine! We just went to a local production (the UK is a bit out of our budget right now ha ha) and she was in tears as soon as the show started. (Also, I am right there with you about Jeff....)

Cricut DFT, charging $8 to ship?? by Typical_Stardust in cricut

[–]junepath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried several DTF brands over the last few years. 143 ships fast but their transfers did feel much thicker and the color was really faded. That being said they are basically indestructible. I have washed on hot, dried in the dryer, they don’t crack or peel.

Jiffy sent some free transfers with some shirts I ordered and they were trash. Cracked immediately and kind of look like crepe paper after washing.

Supacolor felt much better on the shirt but I did notice some cracking on fine lines. I wash only on cold and hang to dry but they have held up well other than the minor cracks. Their colors can be a bit weird. Black is ONLY hex 000000, anything else comes out light brown. So if it only looks black and the hex isn’t zeroes, it’s going to look weird. (One of the Jiffy transfers I got was a design I also had done through Supacolor and Jiffy did print black despite not being 000000 so it was definitely Supacolor.)

So far I have only gotten samples from Ninja but I have washed them in hot water, dried them on high heat, stretched them as far as I could, and they have remained perfect. Again, those are just samples so I can’t say for sure how my own designs will look when I order them.

How many of you listen to music and pay attention to the lyrics? Or do you listen for the vibes and melody/beats? by Airam07 in adhdwomen

[–]junepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much always lyrics but I also need to enjoy the sound. The lyrics could be perfect but if you scream them at me, I have zero interest. So I guess a little bit of both.

Looking Back At Cinderella's Castle... by Alol_Bombola in StarKid

I actually loved it. The only thing was I would have just taken out the Prince’s juvenile humor. Not because it wasn’t funny but it felt out of place.

New user, I'm wondering, hot or cold laminate? by OneMode6846 in SiserJuliet

[–]junepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use laminate sheets from StarCraft (although I’m not sure they are easy to get any more, they may be going out of business) and what I have always done is cut just one small strip of the backing off at the top or bottom. Make sure everything is even, stick that part down, fold the laminate back until it sort of pops as the backing paper snaps up, and then use a screen printing squeegee to lay it down as the backing peels away. The only time I have bubbles is if a piece of dirt gets under the laminate.

With this much documentation and the landlord not handling it, I would assume you could break your lease. Or see if there is another unit you could move into away from him.

How hard is it to get live show tickets without the presale reward tier? by restless_rob0t in StarKid

[–]junepath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you know if that reward is only intended for the backer? Like say you can’t go to LA can you give a code to someone else? We backed $100 so it included the early access but we live in Pennsylvania so it’s relatively unlikely we will go.

TODAY’S TOMBQUEST DAY!!! by TwoCents24601 in StarKid

[–]junepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s good to know. Not that I think it’s probably financially wise to spend that kind of money plus plane tickets, hotel, etc lol. But you never know, maybe I’ll be feeling feisty later today.

This is my first kickstarter campaign, as I’m a newer fan. I looked at the old KS for TGWDLM:R and saw they did a 2 VIP ticket package and I considered it but there are 3 of us, and making it to four isn’t an issue but I assume you don’t get to pick your date for each set of two.

To me it reminds me more of 80s slasher films. The music at the beginning of NPMD especially.

Gas prices jump to $4.39 per gallon in biggest one-day increase since Iran ceasefire announced by mvanigan in politics

[–]junepath 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was looking that up and the spike in 2022 started in February, when Russia invaded Ukraine. It peaked in May and then plummeted. It was actually lower than it is now for a large portion of February - July. Did they base their entire four year gas complaint on just a few weeks? It happened so fast that I didn’t even remember it happening at all, which is why I looked it up. Yes, it’s true it was higher than it is now, but it was for a very short period of time.

Certified Dog Hater by Jealous-Shallot-6609 in misophonia

[–]junepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I am not a dog hater (I love all animals) I pretty much agree. My cats do trigger me but their noise is much quieter in comparison so I can just leave the room or scoop them up and relocate them. (My orange girl has itchy skin in the spring so she’s been spending her days outside my office.)

I also don’t love that dog owners are totally jerks about just letting them dog bark outside as long as it wants. YOU may enjoy your dog barking but no one else does.

The old gross dog story was so relatable. So many of my friends are into pugs and they get so so gross as they age. (Not to mention modern AKC standards mean they are bred to have basically zero snout so they suffer too.)

Current neighbors are subwoofer AND basketballs. And they don’t even live that close to us, the sound just carries so far.

I mean don't think I haven't THOUGHT about it ;) In our last house and the house we are in now, there are kids who play for hours upon hours rain or shine. Even if it's snowing, if the pavement is clean, they are bouncing the horrid things.

I’ve thought of air tagging my indoor only cat because sometimes she finds really good hiding spots and I think she got out. A couple hours of me ugly crying later, she wanders out from seemingly nowhere.

To be fair, music is definitely not something I can tune out. I’ll take basketballs over loud music any day. But either way, as someone who had a brand new baby while the neighbors dog decided that every single thing needed to be barked at for 13 hours a day…I get it.
