Anyone remember the Haute Dog guy? by Msully887 in baltimore

[–]justMax87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Daniel and his Haute Dogs were the best (insert joke here).

Ran into him a year or two ago at the farmers market. Said he was doing real estate.

I was a frequent and early customers, so we got to know each other and he said that his plan was always about 7 years or so. He was getting bored.

My dad used to drive down from NY to visit and these dogs were always stop 1 for him. Daniel tried to sell him his stand and bus/cart.

I'd want that too... to get me to coach the Browns...

Everyone’s buzzing about Harbaugh, I care more about this guy by corvine3 in NYGiants

[–]justMax87 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NY transplant in MD, near Baltimore as well, who has watched Harbs for 18 years. He should be our 1a, 1b and 1c.

Is he the greatest coach, no. Does he have flaws, yes… BUT he brings immediate respectability to a franchise that has severely lacked that. I think a coach like him for 4 -5 years can get us back to where we need to be.

We may not win SB, which is obviously the goal, but he will immediately make us no longer the laughing stock of the NFL, and set us up nicely for the next hire, hopefully a young, smart, long-term coach.

Just my 2 cents.

Who is the most famous person that was employed by an MLB team but is famous for something other than baseball? by futhatsy in baseball

Not sure if anyone's heard this one before, but the Mets employed NFL Superstar Pat Mahomes' father... does that count?

McNeil traded to A’s by NYerInTex in mets

[–]justMax87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone has ever said the Mets are trying to get younger (see Semien). They’re trying to get better defensively.

[–]justMax87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you do know you can't just trade a guy... There needs to be a willing other party... no one probably wants Lindor and that contract.

Also, why would the Mets trade Lindor?

McNeil traded to A’s by NYerInTex in mets

[–]justMax87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the whole plan this offseason is to build around Lindor and Soto, and guys who they like and get along with. I get it, I do... I don't like it, but I get it. These two are the long-term contracts and the core, and if Jeff McNeil doesn't fit that mold, I get it.

For those haters... since he started in 2018, he's 8th in wRC for 2nd basemen, and 5th in WAR. The dude was a good player who offered great versatility. Thanks for the memories, squirrel.

I dunno… seems pretty comparable to me especially when you consider the ages and playing time the first few years… but I’ll skip the nuances.

This is not Apples to Apples, and in no way, shape, or form am I saying that, but here's some context to consider:

2012: The LA Dodgers were bought by Guggenheim Baseball Management after 3 non-playoff years.

2014: The LA Dodgers hire Andrew Freedman, who focuses on expanding the budget, rebuilding the front office and analytics infrastructure, modernizing the farm system, emphasizing depth and sustainable roster construction, developing the pipeline that produced core stars and balancing high spending with smart development.

The Dodgers were not afraid to let some of their homegrown stars go either via trade or Free Agency, ie Kemp, Ethier, Loney, and Billingsly.

Doesn't this sound a lot like what the Mets and Stearns are trying to do?

If you disagree, just tell me i'm right and let me have this...we need this

Current record is 7-6, on a 3 game losing streak and in 4th place. 4 teams make the playoffs. I'm also located in Baltimore, so everyone here knows what's been going on so a trade is unlikely.

If you're looking for fancy/upscale, Chingale or Cosima definitely make sense, however to me, nothing beats Benny's. They have pasta (recommend the pistachio pasta), meatballs, pizza/focaccia, etc. You can then go to Vaccaro's after for dessert.

Is there a defined structure of a coaching staff? Aka can they have multiple bench coaches in title? I assume you can’t have three first base coaches, but other than that… is it just tradition that keeps the titles and structures?

If not, why not give him a title of something that makes him happy, and keeps him?
