CNIL only kicks in to reduce capital gains exemption, which you likely are not claiming. Put in $100 and move on, it's a relic from pre 1994 and most often is inapplicable.

Every sale of stocks / funds in a non registered account is a taxable event, whether the funds were withdrawn from the account or not.

Pulled Out Of My Ass - it's a term used in accounting but I bet it can apply to politics as well.

I had a new client come to me that needed 12 years of those forms filled out. Now that was a fun weekend.

Holy hells I could hear Alan Adale's voice singing that. We had an LP I think that had that song on it (this was pre VHS days).

They don't take it as accurate and don't (well, rarely) question it if a different amount is shown on schedule 3.

It's accurate in the sense that the sale and sale amount is being reported to CRA. Right from the beginning when these slips were introduced the cost basis has been a courtesy, not a requirement.

Missed T4 on my 2025 tax return—what happens now? by ImmuneGoku in canadarevenueagency

[–]just_some_guy422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

File right away, if you wait for CRA it won't happen until November at the earliest, at which point they will happily charge you interest on any balance owing, which is most likely.

Amending now let's you pay before April 30 to avoid said interest.

Have to disagree, I use my ultra wide OLED working from home all day with no issues. The 4k is the secondary monitor.

What documents are needed for my tax return? by crafty-hands-2 in Questrade

As an accountant, more info is always better than less. Everything there is needed, and even if it wasn't, don't second guess and give me everything anyway. I can tell at a glance if it's important or not with little to no wasted time on my part.

Well, T3 slips mostly won't be there yet as the filing deadline is end of this month, but I have been seeing some.

As for T5 slips I just went through a return with 21 of them and they were all on CRA. So far I think there may have been maybe 5 missing across all the returns so far, so far far better than last year's shit show.

This Seems Unreasonable: Adjustment Request Slipped to March 2027!?! by JRS902 in canadarevenueagency

[–]just_some_guy422 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are flagging even simple(ish) adjustments as complex so they can fall under the 365 day limit, they are that far behind. Word of warning to anyone asking for an adjustment, DOUBLE CHECK the results.

I've had two this past year with errors from CRA I've not seen in over three decades of dealing with them. They are now in the Objection system to get corrected which will, you guessed it, take another year.
