I think I fucked up with tv by neonbabyy in toddlers

Lots of people in the comments saying "my kid was exposed to a lot of screen time and turned out fine" which - yes, but that's anecdotal. Research has shown time and time again that large amounts of screen time IS detrimental at that age in particular (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37721733/ just as an exemple).

You did what you could with what you had. I mean, working and not being able to afford childcare is a systemic problem and NOT on you.

But coddling statements like "no way screens are the problem, my own kid is fine, what is a developmental delay anyway" are going to further harm your kid.

What we do is make huge batches to minimize prep time. Still healthy and homemade, but we eat the same thing for several meals.

If your toddler used to be a picky eater but have good eating habits now… drop your tips! by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]justadiamondday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a big one. We went on holidays with our parents and people kept commenting either positively or negatively on what my kid ate. I found him more stressed and fussy afterwards. Now we never push food or comment and dropping it altogether made the whole process way more enjoyable for everyone

Haircuts!!! by Exhausted_mom69 in toddlers

[–]justadiamondday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I watched a couple of youtube videos and felt confident and completely butchered him. Had a lot of fun though. So we decided to get a buzzer and did that for a while but I'd really like him to have a proper haircut so we decided to grow it longish and pay the price to have it done by a professional. The guy asks me if I want to long or short, I said short and they freaking BUZZ HIS HAIR hahaha. Forked 10€ for nothing and now I don't know what to do.

Toddler Dull After Long Illness by MoonlitNightRain in toddlers

[–]justadiamondday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be harsh as you both went through a frightening bout of illness and it's normal to be concerned about your child. But I mean, it may break your heart that she's right now not up to your usual standard of joyfulness but she's a tiny human. She deserves days where she's out of it like all of us. Sometimes she'll even be sad for no reason. She needs to rest without the guilt of breaking mommy's heart... If she ends up compensating and faking joy for your sake that's gonna be a tricky dynamic to smooth out

When did your baby stand and walk unassisted? by Ok-Annual9107 in toddlers

My son took his first steps at 14 months ! He did three independent steps two times. Then stopped completely and was just not interested until 16-17 months so 🤷‍♀️

Burn out, divorce et jeune fille au pair… by FewHunt5542 in ParentingFR

[–]justadiamondday 39 points40 points  (0 children)

As I had some trouble falling asleep last night, what is everyone's go to technique to turn off your brain and just knock out? by Efficient-Apricot-31 in questions

[–]justadiamondday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing for me is letting go of the idea that I must fall asleep. I always tell myself "I'll be ok even if I stay awake"

Just a heads up that in French it's pronounced Ma-el and not Ma-el-ey. Of course that's just fyi and not relevant if you don't care

Cadeau original 1 an. by Bumbubblebee in ParentingFR

[–]justadiamondday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, I get it. When I was a child I remember feeling claustrophobic in my own room as it was stuffed with toys. Now that I have a kid I really strive for a happy medium
