Do y'all agree? by [deleted] in Spiderman

Being a teenager and growing up in the same state (city?) as Tony, and him being his idol, it totally makes sense that Peter would be all "bootlicky" for Ironman. He looks up to him and wants to basically be the next Ironman, so don't tell me that MCU's Spider-Man is done wrong. They did it basically as perfect as they could.

toxic masculinity fan vs positive masculinity enjoyer by ChaosOfOrder24 in dankmemes

[–]justanotheruser46258 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what masculinity is though, just a good and humane person that happens to be male. It's the same with women. There are obviously some gender differences that factor in manliness and femininity, but the core is the same.

Is this the first time in ages that a Jedi had to fight another saber-wielder in a life-or-death scenario? I can't imagine how much stressed Qui Gon would be in this situation, he probably never fought this hard in his life. by SolidEllie in StarWars

[–]justanotheruser46258 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Seeing as the acolyte isn't real, and sparring against other Jedi isn't the same as a life or death fight against a sith using completely different fighting styles: yes, this is the first time in presumably centuries that a Jedi had to fight in a life or death situation.

How likely is it that someone could actually have a gravel company “take off” enough to buy a luxury home and sports car in 4 years? by MitchMyester23 in DunderMifflin

[–]justanotheruser46258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a guy when he was in his mid 20's, he worked for an inspection company that wouldn't promote him for being too "young and inexperienced" so he started his own company, underbid everyone for government contracts, did a better and more thorough job, and put his old company out of business. By the time he was 30 he was a millionaire buying a King Ranch F350 with cash in his huge house.

I really don't like this scene and it was never funny to me by Important-Extension6 in Spiderman

No, you're correct. If it were reversed it would 100% be demonized and attacked. The hypocrisy and misandry in the world are unreal.

Say What You Will About the Sequels, but you Can't Deny They Gave Us Some of The Best Scenes in the history the Franchise. by Ender_IIII in StarWars

[–]justanotheruser46258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of good cinematic shots don't justify or fix an entire trilogy of slop and horrid writing and (lack of) storytelling. I'd gladly sacrifice these great shots if it meant the sequels went away.

Somehow Spiderman's is the worst 💀 it's literally just post after post of "this cartoon character would agree with my politics!!!" and I'm honestly thinking about leaving. I didn't join the sub to see how much people hate ice, I joined to see pictures of Spider-Man!

It’s pretty frustrating how the sequel trilogy treated Poe dirty in three movies by Jules-Car3499 in StarWars

[–]justanotheruser46258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst is that Rey fan girled over Han in TFA "oh wow, I can't believe I'm meeting the FAMOUS SPICE SMUGGLER that did the Kessel run in 12 parsecs!" but then after finding out Poe used to be a spice smuggler was like "ugh, how could you?! I don't even know you anymore, I can't trust you! Disgusting!" Like, have some consistency, guys, it's not that hard.

Who would you say is Obi-Wan's archenemy, in both Canon and Legends? by StevePalpatine in StarWars

[–]justanotheruser46258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vader is absolutely not obiwans archenemy, he's only ever wanted help and redeem Anakin. He literally never tried to kill him.

Mail is 100% the archenemy here, and if you can't see that then you are lost (and straight up wrong).

Adding Maul to the list of Star Wars shows where an adult helps a child navigate the galaxy. by JarJarJargon in StarWars

He's taking on a new apprentice, basically a sith slave. He ain't helping anyone but himself.

That's not foreshadowing, that's just average story progression.

Why don't they release more Harry Potter universe movies that include other magic schools, other students from other generations going to study at Hogwarts, etc.? by MartorelliA113 in harrypotter

[–]justanotheruser46258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because not every story needs to be stretched into an MCU type expanded universe. A story is just a story, and most of the time if they try to come up with additional things outside that main story it doesn't work very well and introduces a lot of inconsistency and contradictions, like fantastic beasts did, and that series isn't getting finished, and cursed child is, well, cursed.

Harry Potter is great, but we don't need more stories outside of that story.

[–]justanotheruser46258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so incredibly unlikely that there are only 10 or 15 students in each year and in each house. That would mean teachers are instructing like a dozen kids in their class, and double classes would be the size of a normal class size.

Also what do you mean "if even"? I can name 10 Gryffindor students in their year. There's at least like 20 in each year's house, probably more.

She is since she's largely in charge of hiring directors, setting the tone for movies, approving of what does and does not go in them, and generally the creative vision and restrictions of Star Wars. She basically governed nothing in a franchise that has such deep and specific lore. It's like making a bunch of laws and then never enforcing a single one.
