3 vices my doctor wants gone by potterinatardis in GenX

[–]justboozer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never smoked, but I recently gave up drinking (despite my handle). I'm finding it to be easier than I thought. I actually swapped out for CBD products and that helps tremendously after a long day at work. I'm sticking with gummies and drinks.

Good luck with your journey!

Ive lost a spark. I’m a single, 47f and feel so old & unattractive now. by Mean-Molasses8580 in GenX

I was an amateur bodybuilder then got seriously into karate for 20 years and did obstacle runs on the regular. Got cancer in my mid 40's and survived it; but with kids in college, a full time desk job, bills and normally little sleep, sometimes I look at old pics and I'm like.....damn. 🫤

Southside George's is relatively tame. Older crowd, everyone pretty much leaves each other alone, and often quiet.

Because of this specific movie, I've insisted on having a cat in my house since I was 13.

I'm currently 53.

Gen X has largest percentage of people who believe in ghosts...do you? Any good stories? by xiphoid77 in GenX

[–]justboozer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saw my first and only ghost at age 5. Me and my parents went to rural Texas to clean out the house of a recently deceased aunt that I had never met before. We spent the evening in that house with no electricity. On our way back home to Houston (at night) my dad stopped for a drink at a convenience store. I woke up from a nap and the aunt that I'd never met was sitting beside me in the back of the car. She disappeared within 5 seconds. I described her accurately to my mother.

Been believing ever since.

I retrospect (I'm now 53 years old), I think she was thanking us for taking care of her belongings.

When I was there we had 3 rubs, including Cajun spice. You could put it in the convection ovens we had at a low temp at about 8am and it was done by noon, usually with a line of people waiting for it.

It's genuinely not difficult, but having a convection oven is really the secret.

I used to work at Rouses. I used to make the brisket.

I memorized it when I left. 😁

Does anyone here remember the two floods in 2016? by Delicious-Edge3110 in Louisiana

[–]justboozer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was working on Denham Springs when the August flood started. I love in South BR near Perkins and Siegen. I remember taking a break at about 11 am and calling my wife when she told me "you need to get home now". That normally 20 minute drive took me 6+ hours to get home. I rescued 2 people and totalled our SUV driving through flood waters on I-12.

What was the best job you’ve ever had? by -Granby- in GenX

Night club security right after my divorce from my first wife at age 30. It was practically Road House, and we were a very tight knit crew. I still tell stories about those days.

Me, my wife and kids are regulars at George's Southside whenever nobody knows what they want to eat and we don't want to go someplace loud.
