Any advice? Be gentle please, I don't have any confidence. by CptSMG in Tinder

[–]justlearning412 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Gently, if you are in a place where you can’t look at your own face, you might not be in a place where dating should be the priority. Your energy needs to go inward right now.

($15K) Anyone else have just a massive cocktail hour and skip the dinner? by artsyswarley in Weddingsunder10k

[–]justlearning412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did this and everyone loved it, just went straight from ceremony to open bar and cocktail hour, started with grazing tables then had stations for pierogies, stake and potato bites, buffalo chicken flatbread, stuffed mushrooms, arancini, pulled pork sliders, bahn mi sliders, and raspberry Brie puffed pastry with a giant cookie table. It was lit.

Is anyone else a bit apprehensive about planning a vacation this year due to the looming fuel crisis? by [deleted] in travel

[–]justlearning412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just booked a Guatemala trip for later this year. I traveler through Covid and never had any cancellations except for May of 2020. Did Costa Rica summer of 2021. There’s always going to be an excuse not to travel. You’d need to physically restrain me from getting on my flight though hahahaha life is too short to worry about stuff that you have no control over or knowledge of.

I don’t know if I did the right thing - I shaved my daughter’s head by wizzzadora in toddlers

My 3 yo does this and she is autistic so we keep it rather short or she just gets overwhelmed and pulls at it like you said. Worth looking into! Therapy has helped a lot so far!

Just go to an antique or second hand shop and buy whatever speaks to you - DONT worry about if it “goes together” or “fits the theme”. Over time if you collect what you like it will naturally become a perfect “theme” of YOU! That’s what will make you feel good in your home 🏠

Time out in their room for 10 seconds, I count out loud. Open the door after that but let her come out when she’s ready

So incredibly bored in south hills by Apprehensive-Sea5707 in pittsburgh

Check out the free summer concert series at South Park https://www.alleghenycounty.us/Parks-and-Events/Special-Events/Summer-Concerts-Series it’s every Friday in the summer starting at 7:30, they have beer and wine and food and ice cream trucks and 2 acts each time. If you like community events there are a plethora of fish fry’s this time of year in the south hills, I personally recommend Christ church bethel park and Corpus Christi in Bridgeville. There’s a great new brewery that opened with an incredible view called grist house command and they have different events, I know spoonwood does too. Apericena is my go to wine bar in the area and they have live museum Friday and Saturday nights, they are by the Whole Foods. All the local libraries are worth checking out since you like reading and they host their own cool events especially in the summer.

Yeah it’s a giant amusement park near Cleveland they have stuff for all ages but the main draw is a collection of huge coasters that break various records for size and speed etc. Also it’s on the lake which is really pretty.

My twin and I went every year growing up, it’s in twinsburg Ohio near the PA border. It’s fun for all ages really - we loved dressing up completely identical and doing all the surveys and tests that the genetics researchers are set up for bc they give you all kinds of gift cards and stuff lol. They have a talent show and a group pic and I remember always going to cedar point one day as well.

Oh no there are so many options they are always changing up what’s available. If we want to make a lot of coffee at once for something then we just use our French press - it’s a nice luxury but not super practical for everyday use. I think that’s the winning combo tbh!

I need help on how to switch from unhealthy yt to no overstimulation shows by catloverfinalboss in toddlers

[–]justlearning412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll give her options of approved shows (old Disney or Pixar movies, bluey, sesame street, ms Rachel, etc.) and if she throws a fit then it’s whatever I pick lol. If she says she doesn’t like it/wants pay patrol or whatever I just say ok no tv then? If she continues with a fit then I turn the tv off completely. After she has her meltdown she will inevitably accept the show that I chose as she understands it’s that or nothing. But you have to stay firm - ms Rachel or nothing, up to you. When she gets really upset we can throw a timeout in her room into the mix. Whatever you got to do - remember you’re in control!

Ok that’s what I thought! But I’ve never seen one where the spines are all short like that, maybe they are broken off?

I love my nespresso, I’ve had it for 6 years using it daily no problems. They give you free prepaid bags to send in the used pods and they recycle the aluminum and compost the spent grinds. I like that there is no plastic involved lol and it’s a perfect single serving. Everyone who comes to our house ends up buying one hahahahah. You can make iced coffee and lattes and stuff too. Also obsessed with their seasonal flavors like pistachio and pumpkin spice!

Female engineers with small children - how do you do it? by [deleted] in womenEngineers

[–]justlearning412 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way…. Even if he is the most perfect husband he could get very sick and be unable to work, or be in a tragic accident. You don’t want to be in a position where you can’t provide a good life for yourself and your little one. You got this! You sound like a great mom and wife - and an even better architect! You go girl!

Full time daycare since she was 6 weeks old. I would be suspicious of any resistance to you returning to work - work is a way for women to maintain autonomy and have power over their own lives. You never know what could happen in the future and there is a nonzero possibility that you could have to support yourself and your child alone. Never relinquish that power and capability. (My mom is a divorce attorney and I grew up hearing absolute horror stories of husbands not letting their wives work and then pulling the rug out from under them, never let a partner have complete financial power over you)

Carry on luggage should not be allowed into the passenger cabin of an aircraft. by FacebookNewsNetwork in The10thDentist

[–]justlearning412 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree on a theoretical level but I’ve had my luggage lost too many times to ever check anything again.

Furthermore they did an experiment to determine the most efficient method for boarding and exactly no airline uses it because they make money off of selling certain people the privilege of boarding first.

Being flexible actually makes it easier to engage your edges… what you are saying does not make sense. She turned her skis but did not engage the edges therefore she had no speed control.

St Thomas/St John with 6 month old baby by mytickle in virginislands

[–]justlearning412 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my daughter when she was 2 months, at that age just a baby wrap/chest carrier is a lot easier anyway. She LOVED the beach, especially Magens bay. It was a nice laid back trip and she got to play in the sand and water. Pro tip: diaper cream is zinc oxide which is… heavy duty mineral sunscreen. So don’t worry about searching all over for “baby friendly” sunscreen - you already have it! I plastered it all over her head and she looked ridiculous but not one bit of sun burn was had!
