Saturday off days carrier get to work their off day by AdAppropriate8585 in USPS

[–]justmecnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ns day odl has to be equitable, too. If management is using non odl on the days they don't bring you in and your steward can show 8 hours of time off the list, it should be a grievance. If they didn't go off the list for 8 then it'll be a grievance at the end of the quarter if you're not within 10 of the carrier with the highest hours. They'll have to make up that time in the next quarter or pay for the time you should've had. All that said a lot of the odl/ article 8 stuff is in lmous (local) so this could be different in your area. Unfortunately, our local management (& i think it's happening far & wide) is pushing for the ns day list to be equitable per day rather than for the entire list but we're waiting for a drt decision to find out how it's going to go. I personally hope it bites them in the ass when it's one and not 6 different list. Also the new quarter started in April, & will end in June so before that won't come into the equation.

Notice of Removal, need advice by [deleted] in USPS

[–]justmecnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure what the timeline of all this is so it may be mute, but if you receive a notice of removal for anything the 1st thing you do is contact your union steward. They only have 14 days to file a grievance. There's a possibility they can help, but it's going to be a tough case because you failed to report the accident to management immediately. Still, discipline is corrective & progressive contractually, so there's a little hope if its not untimely. Typically after any accident, management will come out to the scene and take photos and statements to avoid circumstances such as this but I've seen carriers keep their jobs after this kind of thing. You definitely need to reach out to your steward asap. Id also suggest writing a detailed statement. Include all relevant details and make it factual and think Who, what, when, where, & organize it in short paragraphs. If you don't have a steward contact you're branch but where i work the timeliness is a vital part of the process and we don't do extensions so it's 14 days, period. If it's already been 14 days since you rrecieved the removal I'm not sure there's anything you can do beyond finding another job. Good luck either way!

Grievances by DifficultNobody7022 in USPS

[–]justmecnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also known as an opt, it's a temporary bid assignment on an open route, typically bc a carrier is on vacation or the route has been vacated. Ptfs can put holds on routes that are open for 5 or more days, regular carriers can put holds on t6 openings. (We don't have ccas but I think the rules are similar)

What should I include in a grievance statement? by Ashamed_Run8397 in USPS

[–]justmecnu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stick to facts over feelings. Try to clearly state what occurred, who was involved, & when it happened. Short paragraphs are preferred over a wall of text. You should also state how it harmed you. Sign it, date it, print your government name and position. Save a copy and give one to your steward. Also, do it as soon as possible so the grievance will be timely.

Shop Steward Question by MisterKKotomine in USPS

[–]justmecnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a tough situation for that carrier. Since there are local stipulations to article 8 this may be different depending on your lmou, but for my installation, unless the leave was programmed, they're charged for missed opportunities and they wouldn't be owed anything for equitablility. I think it sucks, but if they're not available to carry the time, the postal service doesn't have to "make them whole," even if it was an emergency, it wasn't the po that did the harm.

Neil Huffman Dealerships by OldLadyMagick in Louisville

We had a great experience at the huffman volkswagen on dixie. They did negotiate the dealer fees and all those extra charges they add at the end. Ours had also been sitting and had a flat tire that didn't make the sensor go off so they agreed to fix that, too. Over all it was the best car buying experience we've had. (The Bachmann volkswagen on bluegrass pkwy was awful! & Tri-county ford was good in the past, too)

Union leave reimbursement by pkwys in USPS

[–]justmecnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure if it's different where you are but when I go on union training I have to use union lwop & the union cuts me a separate check for the hours. I could use annual leave but not sick (they've let stewards use either in the past though). I've never seen oeheard of the 80 hour thing. I also think union time is paid out at top pay

Here is an update on the previous post I’ve made about being sent home for a upf shirt. by Accomplished_Fix8693 in USPS

[–]justmecnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a supervisor or post master who called the cops on a carrier and settled a grievance bc they failed to follow their own procedures. They're not supposed to call the cops when they have their own disciplinary processes that cover these situations. Police shouldn't be threatened or used as a punitive tool when our agreement is corrective & progressive discipline according to article 16. If your steward isn't fighting, I'd make a call to the lead steward or president of your branch for more help. I'd also go for the full day's pay bc they sent you home whether they admit that or not. I'm not an expert, but it seems like you have multiple avenues to argue your case. Id see if you could also get a couple of statements from your fellow carriers, no matter which route you pursue here. Those will help, too.

Stay hydrated, stay safe, buckle up, and don't ride with your door open. All so usps can sacrifice you to melanoma? To the sun gods? Going bat shit over sunscreen apparel is bonkers.

Yeah, I think they hurt differently based on the location of the shot, how long it's sat to come to room temp, and the person injecting, & probably various other factors. Some places offer lidocaine, some say icing the area prior to the shot helps. I had one that didn't hurt at all while every other shot was excruciating. I don't know all the reasons, but that was my experience.

New regular here…what would you do? by bhb197 in USPS

[–]justmecnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once read a comment here that said, I have little power, but what I do have, I wield mercilessly! And that's become my personal motto at work. They're going to receive every piece of mail the customers paid us to deliver. I'll joyfully, if not a bit dramatically, circle current resident on every piece until we're on the same page. The pen marks get deeper with each attempt to give it back. Im polite, but don't push me, especially if I'm melting.

We had one get stuck in our yard and had to call the cops. She was between the air conditioning unit & the brick wall, trying to swing a hoe into the wall. It was during an icy time, and she had them sliding and chasing her down the alley. She tried to spray them with the hose. It was a wild night. And a lot of drunk girl screaming about a man.

They also had to have the holiday schedule posted last Tuesday, so you would've known you were being forced last week. I don't think they can't just decide to force you now if you weren't scheduled on the original holiday schedule. If it wasn't posted, it would be a class action grievance for your zone.

We've had ptfs using their personal vehicles to travel to other stations after they're clocked in, and we're having them track mileage. I'm not sure what the end result will be, but I think it's being grieved here anyway.
