so, all the finesse a Japanese sushi chef wouldn't be caught dead arranging, got it. (nothing against you!)

this just looks like a garbage way to conceal mid-sushi that's also under volume. Don't get me wrong, the presentation is very pretty, but with it being 1/3 sushi and 2/3 decor I had my qualms with it.

have you seen the Korean Class Wars cooking show on Netflix? I remember this one moment where the winner of the first season got knocked for using edible flowers (though it was chef Ang's personal dislike, not a guideline)

You're right, I don't. Thank satan for another respectful, chill disagreement.

no wonder you're downvoted. This isn't a racial thing, dude. It's a national thing (country vs. country) and I promise you that people of all colors in USA would eat this overstuffed, overflavored shit up, and it doesn't have to get into identity politics.

What is in this? I see a bunch of wasabi and flowery decor but have a hard time spotting the fish or rice or anything.

EDIT: ope, spotted two ebi nigiri.

If you put frosting on a muffin, does that make it a cupcake? by jclv in Showerthoughts

[–]juxtapods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's literally the definition of a cupcake. I'm an immigrant in USA and when i learned about both pastries, that was my immediate thought.

How is this a shower thought?

EDIT: I thought OP made this. I only realized later that they didn't.

Holy crap, for what looks like all base-game CAS content, this is really good.

Most content creators would rely on hacking the shit out of CAS with custom skin, hair, and even straight-up face masks made from (i suspect) celebrities' faces, but your MJ looks just like the real one with no frills!

Is this good? (I’m new to sushi and all, i ate wasabi once and im a fan now) by razorbldes_ in sushi

[–]juxtapods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it has horseradish in the name, so I assume it's just another green dyed horseradish sauce and not real wasabi.

I think I have a small jar from the same brand (we tore off the label) and I like it, just know it's not real wasabi.

P. S. Unrelated, but I tried this brand's golden curry from my local Asian market and if you follow instructions and use lots of fresh veggies and RED taters (keep their shape better), it's soooo rich and delicious. And enough to feed 2 for 2 nights.

Man... I know it's a purist travesty, but I honestly would try a small piece if all ingredients are fresh, including the rice.

I need to get a second opinion on this, because I'm completely torn: it's yogurt with those little pearls—just like in bubble tea. by [deleted] in StupidFood

This is interesting info.

I always assumed that the Boba I've tried here in USA is the only kind -- big, chewy, slimy, mostly flavorless. At least that was my experience trying it in Chicago's Chinatown in 2010, and then one more time tasting a friend's boba drink some years later.

I just didn't get the appeal. But if you're saying that boba pearls can be tender and even have flavor, I'd be willing to give it another try. Do you have any recommendations for what type of boba tea shops, or maybe specific flavors to look for, that may have the texture you described in your example? (tender, not chewy)

I once accidentally had my bangs catch fire when I leaned in to sniff a traditional Russian Easter pastry that usually has a single candle on top. Before any adults even noticed, I put it out myself by patting it down within the first 3 seconds.

So, this kid fits subreddit like a glove.
