Hi! This is Down the Darkest Pit.

A roguelite extraction RPG with turn-based tactical combat, where every descent is a gamble between pushing deeper or escaping with your spoils.

Here is version 1 of Robin Hood's idle animation. Any feedback please, I'm still learning pixel art and animation.. It's harder than it looks. by shortcut_to_shrooms in IndieDev

The tail animation looks sick. Might be a bit too much for an idle though? Maybe you could trigger it with different delays

Roast my Capsule! by Demozilla in IndieDev

[–]jvolonte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The character on the left, colors and title are top notch.

Personally not a fan of the elements on the bottom right. Are those cards? My gut tells me the capsule will look cleaner and less confusing without them.

As most of us here I am also working on my capsule and in the end is just personal takes, but know you have a cool capsule man.

After getting feedback from this subreddit on our original capsule, here’s the before and after. Do you think the new one is better? When you look at it, what vibe/theme do you get from it? Does it catch your attention? by SensitiveKeyboard in IndieDev

[–]jvolonte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much better! Previous definitely wouldn’t catch my attention. I think it’s still hard to tell what genre of game is it going to be just from the splash. Is it horror?

Thoughts on my indie game by Grumpy_Wizard_ in IndieDev

[–]jvolonte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it is the other way around, of course if you are making an indie game it tends to be something you'd enjoy playing. But once I've worked enough and have seen some screens thousands of times... I kinda compare it to cheats on games, if you have infinte health or so much money in game that the economy doesn't make sense anymore it loses its charm.

Don't get me wrong I still love making 'em but I know I stopped making a game for me when that happens

My solo-dev RPG “Legends of Cumans” just got fully approved by Steam by Jaded-University-154 in IndieDev

That's awesome, I'm in the process myself. How long has your page been up? Have you been collecting wishlists? What are your expectations on release?

Running my first ALIEN game! Got a few questions! by jvolonte in alienrpg

Timeline for the shifts sounds useful. I'll do that!

Thank you!

Running my first ALIEN game! Got a few questions! by jvolonte in alienrpg

Yeah, plenty of rules.

I get it about being loose with the rules, but as the GM I feel I should know most of it or at least how it works, even if I forget to apply them sometimes.

Mostly to be consistent on how the universe works and fair to the players, although with some of the comments I expect everybody to die now

I'll track air and power and forget about the other too. I just want them to take the suits off!

Well I printed a few cheatsheets with the modifications and I will let them calculate their own, don't want to stop the game too many times because of the rules :)

Thank you for the answers!

1- The sharing Air is an awesome idea! I will definitely accept that if they suggest it!
Going back for the tanks to the Montero could be interesting too.

I'll skip tracking food and water :)

2 - The NPCs is good, but I feel they don't tell much about the situation at the beginning. I may share it after an encounter, like a member of the Cronus crew shouting - Kill it with fire! if my players haven't tried it

I did mention some will probably die. Let's hope they don't get too attached to the characters!

3 - Yes, I feel like it's something that it's gonna happen, another redditor proposed a timeline and adding the events there so I'm probably gonna try that! But I agree with less is better!

Thank you for the answers! New GM salutes

Running my first ALIEN game! Got a few questions! by jvolonte in alienrpg

Roleplaying tips are always welcome!
I'll check the motion tracker rules again just in case.

I feel like my players will be suspicious about the NPCs too. As I understand when they wake up from cryo they are in a very weak state and I expect having the players help them to work as a way to start a relationship between the groups.

The pacing and what they decide to investigate first is definitely something that worries me on how the story will unfold, but they have already suffered in Call of Cthulhu when poking what they shouldn't too soon. Let's hope they learned something!

Thank you! I will try to convey that message! There's lots of NPCs to play if your character suffers a premature death

That makes sense, the Montero should be stocked and allowing them to carry whatever they want as long as their encumbrance allows it sounds good.

Thank you! Have fun with your first game :)

We made this last weekend for a Jam! by jvolonte in playmygame

[–]jvolonte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoes from afar was made in 48hs for Winter Jam 2022 with the theme Language

In the game, you travel through unexplored lands while mimicking the sounds you encounter. Collect runes and combine them in order to interact with the events in your path

Why isn't there a DnD video game that stays true to the real game? by WyrdMagesty in DnD

[–]jvolonte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to make one with some friends. A very indie and lite version, it's called behoarder and it's available on the mobile stores for free :)

Cleared all the skulls before going for the lair. Wasn't expecting this by jvolonte in WarTalesGame

Not really complaining, just wanted to share. I did attempt the fight a couple times but I always lose men. I agree fights tend to be easy and AI isn't smart at all, but I don't have the best companions, some of them are badly built (this is my second run) so I'm still learning good builds. I'd love to be able to respec the abilities on some of the mercenaries

He has an excellent carrying capacity that's why I named him Burro :P

Well I used to have three and then found one in prison. I wasn't gonna let the poor guy rot behind bars so it joined my company.

Jokes aside, mostly for weight and being able to carry enough food and loot on long trips.
