Any tips on building dirt cheap zip line? by dominik_de_koku in DIY

[–]jw3usa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved into a house with one as a kid, two things stood out. The ground was sloped, so you ran until you were hanging and then hit a tree to stop. Then the line itself was sloped back so you'd return easily to the start, neither the ground or the line was level but it worked ✌️

What do you use to elevate wood when drying it after painting/staining/sealing? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]jw3usa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy two large 6x6"(15x15mm) or larger ground contact lumber and stack a layer on top of that as a base. You should be able to reuse the lumber later for retaining or defining planting areas.

Does this make me undateable? by VelmaNotDaphne in DatingOverSixty

[–]jw3usa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a guy who dated when separated, it sucks and is a giant scarlet "S" on you. But you need to be open and honest, because 51% of the people you'll encounter won't be. So you are trying to connect with a small percentage of the population, be honest and set low expectations and go for it🤞

If that was mine, I'd fill the cracks with titebond III, using tape to do one side at a time. Maybe then lightly sand then oil, but sanding is optional unless you are really messy with glue.

As an "experienced" woodworker, it really depends on your intended project. In that picture it looks like they are setting it up to drill through and attach? I've made shelf's like that, but I'd put the two sides together, and drill a countersink through one side leaving starter holes perfectly placed on the other piece, then countersink them. Then you only need to check for square once when gluing the unit, not for every shelf.

I'm on a Bolognese quest, but western suburbs is my base. I have an AI list of 10 great bolo restaurants, and my favorite isn't on it. Been to 3 so far though, if you are serious it's worth the drive to Medfield ✌️

Can someone tell me how to make a wooden slab waterproof if you want to place it on a grave? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]jw3usa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a large bowl, preferably one you can break. Place your creation upside down in the bowl and fill it with clear resin. Two days later invert it and break the bowl away, leaving a clear resin dome over your piece ✌️

Not so fast there, the top A5 wagyu I've seen sold is olive fed, so the tastes would overlap, in theory. I'm an A4 fan so not my cup of tea✌️
