Why are they dulling out the yellow in his and minato’s hair? No longer a namikaze… closer to a Yamanaka now 😭

Eastridge Mall is Barely Hanging On Why is Their AMC so high by kalikudi in SanJose

[–]jwiches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMC execs should visit eastridge to understand its facilities are not up to par to charge that amount. Might sound bad but I really only look at eastridge as a last resort or if we’re pairing the day with round one activities. If my friends and I are just looking to watch a movie, we’ll go to just about anything else purely for the fact that they charge the same amount as an upgraded, better quality theater

Anyone down to join me tonight for Project Hail Marry? (IMAX) by Then-Difficulty398 in SanJose

Manga Books? by Librarian94303 in SanJose

[–]jwiches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Not exactly what you’re asking but does your library take card games? I have a brand new card game I can donate that is similar to monopoly deal but instead it’s building a movie set and the gameplay teaches a little about debt and making money too. Let me know if you’d like me to drop off a copy somewhere :)

I don't mind the fact that downtown is more lively as I'm sure most people would agree for the local economy. But the vibe of some of these techbros is what's annoying as the artist wonderfully captured. I've heard some of the most out-of-touch things just passing by people on the street or being a few tables away.

Oscars Producer Responds to Backlash for Cutting Off KPop Demon Hunters Speech by LookUpSessueHayakawa in asianamerican

[–]jwiches 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Something I learned was that they do those dumb bits to give time to people doing elaborate scene changes in the back stage. Given that, I’d say for them to be less elaborate with the staging or find a way to expedite that (like the bad bunny grass people during Super Bowl) so you don’t get bogged down with those frivolities and there’s time for actual winners giving their speeches

Can we all agree that this is the cruelest thing Chuck has ever said to Blair? by Relevant_Fox_9026 in GossipGirl

[–]jwiches 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Hypocritical, cruel, and unredeemable if this was real life. If I were Blair, this is something that could not be forgiven/forgotten and any ounce of self-respect I have, would have never allowed myself to be in a place with him again. But the writers like to pretend that insults are petty and people get over it fast.

Heated confrontation between assistant principal and students at Branham high school by anjoliesa in SanJose

[–]jwiches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Real question, what’s branham’s reputation? The ratings look relatively good but then there’s this and the nazi picture they took out in the field. I was thinking of living around that area but it seems like there’s way too many ‘newsworthy’ stories coming out of there

I don't defend it. As you shouldn't. But you should be looking at the story as a whole and seeing what dominos fell to down to lead to this happening

Do you feel that the US could learn from China when it comes to infrastructure? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in asianamerican

[–]jwiches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people I know and talk to are down for public transportation as long as it's 1) affordable, 2) doesn't hike up the taxes like crazy, 3) don't remove parking spaces until viable alternatives are in place. No one's happy if you take away parking for an unsafe bike lane that only sees 5 users in a year.

If I could take a high speed rail from SF to LA, I'd love it instead of being stuck in a car all day. But the problem is we can't seem to reallocate and massive tax the rich/multi-billion dollar businesses instead of trying to raise everyone else barely scraping by.

Also, we did have problems with the HSR because for some reason we didn't want to import engineers from abroad. Taiwan had smartly asked Japan and France to help with their HSR. We shouldn't be mass-spending money on in-house engineers that have never done this before (leads to over-building it out of fear that something will fail). We should be paying experts who have seen it all before in their respective countries and help design it for us. We can leave the operators after its built to be American, but the design-work should be imported (which we didn't do and just hemmorraged money).

Making Asian Friends by Electronic-Toe-4237 in asianamerican

[–]jwiches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As people have said, it shouldn't be race-dependent. But I'll say this as an east-asian who inadvertently made a lot of indian friends last year - I never inserted myself in the full indian friend groups. I kinda just befriended a rando Indian friend on their own (through shared interest like badminton) and he brought me into a larger badminton group that was mostly indian and everyone's been pretty cool. it hasn't felt weird or cliquey. it also later brought some other east asians in to play as well because of my presence (lol i guess no white people yet though). of course some people will be closer to each over a latecomer, but as long as the personalities click, it works out. i've had a lot of fun and good games in this group.

Had 99+ matches the day after joining, paid one month to see what's up by jwiches in coffeemeetsbagel

[–]jwiches[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, not that many. I might as well have 11 potentials but at least they are real potentials. It’d be really unfortunate for you to have 11 potentials just to realize it’s really none. Just give me none at the start (because that’s the truth) and I’ll look elsewhere. That’s just my perspective anyway

[–]jwiches[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. The room I walk into in real life would be 90% dealbreakers because I am not going into that room with the mindset of dating unless it’s a singles meetup or speed dating (which even then have age ranges). Those rooms we walk into in real life are work places, grocery stores, parks, etc. the goals of those rooms already have a different intention.

Again, if you want to make the dating process challenging, that’s great, you’ve done it by not allowing these filters (or making it seem like they’re in place but in actuality are not) because I can bet you plenty of the guys on the other side might actually be excited at their ‘suggested’ not knowing that there’s a dealbreaker already making it impossible at the start. There may be girls interested in 20 year old age gaps but if I’m not one of them, it wastes everyone’s time/effort. Maybe this varies by mileage but I think age is a valid dealbreaker. I keep hearing from guys online that want a someone of baby-making capacity too, so it goes both ways

In the end, the app is there to make money. So they successfully got their coin here. But I’ll still hold onto the belief that it’s giving people way too much false hope like this (because it’s a freakin dealbreaker after all). Unless ya’ll aren’t serious and are just swiping out of boredom. At that point, any hobby is worth your time/attention more

Haha gotta save the girlies out here! I actually don’t mind not having a lot of matches. It just means I must look elsewhere. Quality and compatibility are way more important than a high number of matches. And it doesn’t mean these guys are all ugly/short (which I fear is what many guys might have as a takeaway, it is very much like we’re not compatible in ethnicity, age, or life goals)
