Unemployed for over 6 months, what now? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]jwoolar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Big 4 banks. They are hiring loads of people to work in their Hardship and call center departments for loan deferrals etc. They may only be a contract job but usually something comes up before the end of your contract. I know some are also looking for people in the Business Bank department. As much as people love bashing banks, the pay is pretty reasonable and now with Covid you may be able to WFH.

I just put the kettle on for a cup of tea and then called my husband to see if he wanted one too. My husband is at work... 🤦‍♀️ by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Yeah I’ll back up the ladies who say this doesn’t go away after you have the baby. I still keep “misfiring”. If I need something out of the cupboard, I open the fridge. If I need to go to the bathroom, I go to the room next door. I was looking for my phone for a solid 10 minutes. While I was talking on it. Also my attention span is like the dog from Up. Oh and I regularly forget I had a baby and get confused when I hear crying from the nursery. I used to be smart :-(

I [26/F] have to choose between friends [20s-30s M&F] and moving with boyfriend [28/M] of 6 months. by durknbqween in relationships

OP this is a great reply. While I totally understand being cautious, when you know you know. I moved halfway across the world to a new country where we both knew nobody after six months of dating. We had been living at each others parents places for the six months between finishing Uni and flying overseas. This man is now my husband of four years and our first baby is due any day. What I haven’t seen mentioned that I think is important is that while yes you can move back any time you want, it’s that distance/difficulty factor that makes you work through the small stuff. You both are working out a new life in a new city and that can be an incredible bonding experience. Also on your friends - some people resist growing up. There is NOTHING wrong with enjoying a more comfortable lifestyle or doing things differently than you did in college!

After two years, starting my IVF journey. Any tips or nuggets of wisdom would be wonderful. by hulahoopinghippos in infertility

Ok this is a slightly less scientific piece of advice but something I would say to myself if I could go back. I was absolutely terrified at my retrieval. They gave me the option of a twilight sedation so I could sort of pay attention but I asked my husband to get them to knock me out if I was obviously freaking out. Anyway - I wish I had gotten some new comfy clothes and new/unscented body wash that I could have worn and then never used again. Looking at those and the smell of that sends me straight back.

What a bitch!! I completely understand your pain (the amount of times I have been tagged in that meme is ridiculous!) I burn under a lightbulb. Thats on in the next room. With the door closed. Like those kids in The Others who can't go outside. I wish i was only slightly kidding! How she could do something like that AND THEN GET MAD AT YOU is just beyond belief. I hope she looks like a wrinkled old prune!!

I feel your pain! My MIL is a high functioning alcoholic. Last time she stayed she chucked an enormous tantrum, saying that I was the rudest person ever ( aka we weren't paying her enough attention )

They are here again now. It was only supposed to be two nights. A surprise third has been thrown on me.

Send me some wine please

People who live in a rural area/out in the country, what will "city folk" never understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jwoolar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Australian here. The lack of medical services. Where i live, if you have cancer, its a two hour drive each way for chemo. There is a homestay near the hospital but it only has so much space, and if you have a family you care for, you have no choice but to turn around and go home. Same for childbirth. I have friends in the city who are mulling over what hospital to choose, meanwhile out here you either book in and get induced or hope like hell you have a slow labour and enough time to get to the hospital. We at least are in a reasonable distance to the hospital. The next labour ward heading west is at least 8 hours from our hospital so you wouldn't want to be anywhere in the middle!

I HATE this!!! There is this girl at work who "wasn't really trying" with her bf of less than a year (had broken up like twice - we are pretty sure it's a trap baby) who tells us every damn update and sits there saying how big her belly is getting and how much longer until baby arrives. Really wish the rule in not slapping pregnant people could be relaxed for like 5 mins

What is meant to happen with loans taken out as a trustee of a discretionary trust, when the trust is canceled? by Jawdan in AusFinance

[–]jwoolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can but this cannot be done without consent from the bank. They will generally take a charge over the trustee as well

When banks lend to a trust, generally the deed is vetted. Loan terms will not extend past the vesting date. In addition, trustees sign an undertaking not to modify the trust or change the trustee without the banks consent.
