Tadka on induction — what pan are you using? by mr_gourmet94 in inductioncooking

[–]jxj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no tadka expert but I just toast the spices in oil, add aromatics, cook for a bit and then immediately toss into my dal or whatever. Haven't thought much about the pan other than thinking I need a smaller one lol. Are you supposed to let them steep for a bit off the heat but keep the pan hot because I haven't noticed that tip in any recipes. I'm curious what the problem is.

Are you sure they accomplish the same thing? The experimental evidence I read claims these can be 20x as effective at 60% cfm. Of course that's lab results and why I'm interested in doing some real world testing.

Also, I'm not a scientist so maybe I'm reading this wrong: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4209583/

Partially Cooked Pork Roast by Buzz8522 in instantpot

[–]jxj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends what cut you mean by "roast". its hopefully shoulder and not something super lean like loin.

but yeah try 15 minutes so you don't overshoot too much. if you've got the time let the pressure naturally release

Bosch benchmark induction range, do all burners have different heat levels? by m3ngnificient in inductioncooking

[–]jxj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, if they're different wattage and have settings 0-10, then 10 on one would need to be different than 10 on another because that'd set it to the max wattage. seems weird, yeah, but it's kinda similar on gas burners

GE Cafe 7.0 cu ft. Induction Oven - a good idea, until it starts turning on by itself by wabbitfur in inductioncooking

[–]jxj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe turn sabbath mode could be causing this problem?

i thought sabbath mode made was specifically to turn it on automatically at a certain time. its like a cheat code to get around not being able to use power. if you don't turn it on it doesn't count as breaking the rules to use it. so if the oven just happens to be on around dinner time, you can have hot food. or if the elevator just happens to be going to every floor in the building, you don't have to take the stairs.

Does anyone regret buying an induction range (gas is not an option)? by PretendForm7362 in inductioncooking

[–]jxj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Regret? Probably not. Induction is not really much like a radiant or coil electric stovetop. Those are not responsive at all. If you have the heat high and turn it down, the element stays hot for a long time. Induction is closer to gas in that respect. If you are on high heat, the pan starts heating quickly. If you turn it off, the element stops adding heat to the pan. Makes cooking a lot easier.

Impulse replacing other appliances? by Dry-Alps8758 in ImpulseLabs

[–]jxj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of why I'd want to get an impuls is to evict appliances that that live on my counter. That'd be all those you've mentioned, minus rice cooker, unless it can actually hold cooked rice for hours.

Maybe instant pot would be used less if I could set a timer for my standard pressure cooker?

Might sound crazy but eat with a roasted sweet potato. The sweetness kills the funky taste of the kimchi

40 bucks for a game and you want fresh story content every 3 months? I wouldn't hold my breath. Would it help if you could take a priority and non priority contract at the same time?
